7/22/2026 2:20am Interesting video of a rider making his own dropper post. The breakdown of various dropper designs is handy and his experience makes me appreciate what's out there already, especially inexpensive droppers like trans-x etc that work well for a long time.

7/8/2026 1:49am I swear this is SRAM propaganda: "It just doesn't make sense to add a more complex, harder-to-maintain, more expensive option that's locked to your frame and that no one has parts for." More complex to maintain? The Pinion service interval is 6,200 miles — people race entire seasons without touching their gearbox. Meanwhile derailleur drivetrains need constant adjustment and eat consumables, especially on ebikes. Gearboxes will take over ebikes within a few years — the motor negates the efficiency loss, the weight is low and centered, and ebike torque destroys conventional drivetrains anyway. DH won't be far behind (less unsprung...

4/3/2026 1:16am Yeah, I didn't know they'd released an "EVO" model, either. Apparently "We're not releasing an EVO model for this Stumpy, ever" means "We're not releasing an EVO model for this Stumpy anytime in the next 2-4 months."

3/21/2026 2:38am My understanding is that manufacturers mostly build carbon frames from the ground up (as opposed to being assembled from pre-manufactured tubes, a la Atherton Bikes), and that layup patterns don't vary much or at all between sizes ( with a few notable exceptions).
