4/28/2020 5:30pm I have been running mullet on my SC Megatower ( before that mullet yeti 165) and prefer mullet for precision, clearance, and change of direction. Run a offset bush in front and in high chip mode. Just switched out my Tallboy as well. Hope these mullets take hold for a purpose built bike soon. For me it has been a big difference in maneuverability.

2/9/2020 10:58am Great article and reasoned debate. A motor is a motor is a motor. Legs are legs are legs. If I can't climb the hill, I'll: a) go to another trail or b) train harder. $.02

2/8/2020 2:03pm The one thing we all need to remember here is that if it has a motor. People will and in this case already have figured out ways to make it more powerful and go much faster. If you know anything about electric motors and batteries it doesn’t take much to an hack an ebike to make it go faster. Or add a throttle for that matter. Don’t even try to tell me it’s not possible. A quick google or YouTube search will enlighten you. I have a friend that builds ebikes and with a few tweaks they will do burnouts...

2/8/2020 8:32am Personally, I don't have an issue with class 1 ebikes on trails. They are no faster than a regular bike on a downhill and a strong rider can still go faster up the hills.. There are several KOMs on climbs I couldn't touch even with the help of an ebike. An ebike doesn't make an average rider into Nino... As far as people hacking and unlocking bikes, that's an issue.. Their is definitely a wild west situation in the ebike world. There are rules and regulations, but little to no enforcement capabilities. I know of one SoCal based company that...

2/8/2020 5:24am "Why would an E-bike (that weighs 15-20 lbs more) not damage a trail more than a regular bicycle" The range of rider body weights makes 15 extra pounds of bike weight insignificant.. Possibly this important study will conclude that trails should have a weight limit and weight station at the trail-head. If the rider + bike (ebike or regular) is over the limit, no riding for you. Horses of course will not be subject to these limits.

2/8/2020 5:23am That's just science, right? More force applied by more weight. It seems like this would be on the low end of the argument against e-bikes because, yes, no one is mad at 220 lbs guy for riding on the trail vs 160 lbs guy.

2/8/2020 5:21am An eMTB may not do as much damage per compared mile, but more per compared time. Say you have a 1hr long lunch to go for a ride. On your normal ride on a normal bike, you’d do one loop. Now on the eMTB would you be able to fit two laps in during that time? Are people going to ride based off of distance or off of how long they feel like being out regardless of the bike they are on? I’m personally for eMTB use on any motorized trail, and any non motorized trail that the local riding...

2/8/2020 5:20am Watch this video interview with Dave Turner and tell me there's a dividing line between ebikes and motor bikes: https://youtu.be/RuZuUn5Ci2k TL/DW: unless you're Nino you can't match the output of an electric motor. You'll put about 40W at the top of your lungs, while the lousiest electric assist motor gives you 250W on tap, and you can't tell me that ain't cheating. Wanna share the trails with me? OK, take off the battery and pedal like everyone else. On top of that, every single sale of an expensive mountain bike subsidizes the prices of the ebikes, bringing them down, up...

9/24/2019 4:27pm Damn... They are getting skewered... My only real gripe on this whole climate strike is that they are pushing it on the backs of kids... I know every 13 year old is suddenly an expert on climate change and not simply regurgitating whatever they've been fed... There is evidence of several climate shifts prior to the industrial revolution.. I'm not saying mankind hasn't contributed, but it may not be all man made either... But, yes.. doing our part to conserve some resources isn't a bad thing... There are still many questions about our planet that haven't been answered..

8/23/2019 3:14pm Here is my Yeti SB 165 in "97.5". I am LOVING this bike. Exactly what was said about turns - able to dive in and out much quicker than full 29" - to me anyway. This set up is Really fast and fun!

8/6/2019 3:52am Capra mullet. 27.5” frame with with a 29” wheel up front. It’s a 170mm bike, so I ended up going with a 160mm fork. I’ve just done some parking lot jibs on it thus far. Can’t wait to hit the trails.
