Well, Giant is the biggest manufacturer in the world. (of decent bikes, is you skip Chinese or Indian cheap Walmart-like bike makers) They make frames for Giant and at least a dozen of well known brands. Then add the current global situation when you have to wait for some OEM parts up to 500 days and I think they are just flat out making frames. Brand awareness is not so important when you cant get enough bikes to supply the demand. I think..

As far as I know he was expecting to renew the YT deal and they pulled the rug from under him saying there will be no WC racing team in... 2019? So he scrambled on his own and got the Intense deal, then YT said 'oh wait, we'll do some more racing'. With the current stuff they do seem very flaky when it comes to their pros. Has the budget run out a bit?

What do you have now? Are either of those a big upgrade or just a baby step. ~20% off a nearly 3 year old bike is not really a good deal. A lot of shops do that kind of discount on last years models not.

Regarding stock builds, and as someone who has been edging towards a new bike purchase in the last year or two, I hope to see Deore be a baseline for lower cost but still capable bikes. Seeing NX on a $3500 build was already totally unappealing but to then see SX start to creep in had me saying NOPE. My last bike was sporting GX at this price point (in fact cheaper). Good to see SLX making more of an appearance this year however, and Deore will also be welcome within a certain price point from this buyer!
