Jetmo Added a comment about product review Rime Flat

Definitely interested. Not sure how it compares but looking for a replacement for my 510 Canvas freeriders that have been discontinued since Adidas took over. And I don't love the look and material of the regular freeriders. Extra points for Specialized making their text/logo actually work with the design which I also like overall. Now whether this shoe is too narrow or too bulky is another matter..

obviousalias Liked a comment about Press Release YT Introduces the New Jeffsy Core Range

Unfortunately, the Core spec levels do not line up with the previous spec levels. For example, the Core 4 is a significant step down from the previous Pro Race Jeffsy. Bars, brakes, wheels, crankset, and dropper are all downgraded. Now, that coincides with the little explanation on the website, but when they first posted on FB, YT was telling riders that the Core 4 was on par with the previous Pro Race model. It's also true that the Core 4 is $300 less expensive than the previous Pro Race, but based on the downgraded components, it is a much greater...

TruckeeRiverTroll Liked a comment about Feature First Ride: Ride Concepts Vice Mid Flat Pedal Shoes

My god it's the Vision Street wear high from when I was a skate punk. I've been waiting for this shoe for 30 years. Thank you Ride Concepts. When do they drop.

I think you are spot on. I would not hesitate to buy or recommend an entry level bike with Deore and then upgrade parts as they wear out. That entry level Rocky Mountain with Deore, for example, looks amazing. I would not buy a bike with NX, and certainly not SX.

My takeaway to this, and what tracks with my own experience is that SLX, XT and GX is that's where the conversation starts for a durable, adequately performing groupset that shouldn't totally break the bank. Some differences sure, but solid and reliable in most ways. To have Deore also become a member to this club (trusting the review's conclusions), while being even more affordable will hopefully go some way in ridding us from NX and whatever SX is on otherwise decent bikes. I know this segment of SRAM technically works fine, but it shouldn't be on mid priced bikes and...

Regarding stock builds, and as someone who has been edging towards a new bike purchase in the last year or two, I hope to see Deore be a baseline for lower cost but still capable bikes. Seeing NX on a $3500 build was already totally unappealing but to then see SX start to creep in had me saying NOPE. My last bike was sporting GX at this price point (in fact cheaper). Good to see SLX making more of an appearance this year however, and Deore will also be welcome within a certain price point from this buyer!

Having owned, a Camelbak neoprene 1st generation water bladder since day 1 (after having lost too many water bottles out of my stupid cage), I've never wanted to go back to losing bottles. I graduated over the years to a trusty Camelbak Mule & stayed the status quo. But this summer has been absurdly hot & wet in the south & I tried a 30 day ride challenge that saw me lugging too much stuff for short rides. Have had no desire for a "bum bag" when I've seen them baboon swelled off other's backsides, but the Savu caught my...

Jetmo Added a comment about product review Savu

12/18/2019 5:50am
I have both this and the bladder version, Seral. I bought the Seral first thinking its convenience with the hose/bite valve would be superior, plus with two water bottles the Savu's smaller size would be cancelled out. Then after riding with the Savu, I do prefer it, found that it is indeed more compact feeling, even loaded with two bottles; I like that I can have a separate bottle with some gatorade, and agree overall with your review. The Seral is still great for when more water is needed and preferred over any backpack I own. Last, the best feature...

AlexTeo Liked a product review Best Clipless Pedal on the Market?

11/6/2019 5:25pm
For the past couple of years now I have been always a flat pedal rider. They better suited my riding styles as I spend most of my time hitting jumps. Over the past year, I have been spending more time racing and riding rougher trails and I started to look into the benefits of clipless pedals. Finally, after a bunch of research, I decided to purchase the Nukeproof Horizon CL Clipless Pedalss (the DH ones) for my enduro bike. These pedals would be my first introduction to the world of clipless pedals, so it was very important to me that...

The bottom line is, it depends. Longer reach is stable at speed, while shorter reaches are more playful and more precise in slower, technical and tight, twistier trails. If all you ride is park or long, fast descents, then long reach is your friend, but if you ride trails that have slower, tighter sections, then you might dial it back some. I went longer and longer, to the point where my bike was a blast on vacation trips to trails where my riding was descent-biased, but a stubborn handful on my local trails... this resulted in me building a 2nd...

For those that are lost on this whole concept of "reach," this article is helpful: Modern Mountain Bike Geometry Defined - Transition Explains Effective Top Tube Versus Reach Having had the opportunity to ride several bikes back-to-back in different sizes but with the same trim, I feel like I can weigh in on this pretty well. I'm 5'10" (178cm) tall and have been testing bikes in the 425-455mm reach range for a while now. After loads of experimentation, I've found bikes around 440mm paired with a 50mm stem to be the sweet spot for my preferred riding style. Most...

lagocza Liked a product review New favorite grips!

4/29/2019 11:43pm
Ihave always been an ODI Ruffian user as long as I have ridden MTBs, and while I have tried other brands I have always gone back until now. This grip packs in a ton of useful features without being too expensive and it just feels right. The grip was super grippy out of the box and gained grip as it broke in. It is very soft compared to the ruffians I had before, but they are still relatively thin ( I went with the thinner version). The softness of the grip is also their downfall in that they seem...

I like these too. Went with the thin version and soft compound. Bought them for the half waffle to hopefully absorb some shock and add comfort. They definitely do that on regular trails. Eager to try these at the bike park to see how they affect hand fatigue.

OK is see OP was when Obama was Pres and the world made at least some sense. Anyways! I ride with headphones when I'm training on my road bike. It definitely helps disguise the pain a bit. Sometimes it's nice to have that, sometimes not. Same thing when running. Mountain biking is a different deal for me, so I would...

I have a 2017 Sentier and love it. Sized up to a 19" where 17" was my recommended size (5' 10"). They might have lengthened the reach since then. If shopping online and looking at CRC, check out the new Ragley line too. I probably like my 2017 Ragley Marley just a hair more than my Sentier. I was in...
