9/5/2025 9:05am That's a seriously classy goodbye from Eric. Such a bummer to see sponsored athletes who are so intertwined with a specific brand have to part ways due to the current situation.

9/5/2025 7:08am Asa might have had an issue in his run. I expect him to go well on this track.

9/5/2025 4:52am It’s funny to me, because the very thing on that thread that people were lambasting YT and Canyon for is the thing that I find exciting: bikes that perform well and represent a good value proposition. Fancy magical linkages, outlier kinematics, adjustable geometry, bleeding edge race tech… overrated. Give me a bike with surprisingly good component specs that works well...

9/4/2025 7:51pm ya, weird way of saying my specific LBS doesn't want to stock any Stereos or other totally normal cool bikes from Cube, and therefore I will associate them with not being a core MTB brand more or less. this thread is slowly devolving into pointing out mundane, obvious things companies do and then inferring you see it as good or bad depending on whether you like the company. most brands aren't particularly innovative right now. eBikes ARE gonna be the innovation for a bit. it's a sector that NEEDS work unlike normal bikes which are fairly sweet right now. i...

9/3/2025 9:31am This is where I'm at as well. I mean... it's his team. But if I were to start dating a subordinate at my job (regardless of age difference), one of us would end up having to resign... and most likely, as the person in the position of authority, it would be me. That's pretty prevalent in company policy around the...

9/3/2025 7:07am Just rumors but... the word around Bentonville is that YT has investors lined up to set things straight and something should go public in October. My concern is that the amount of damage done to the brand image and consumer trust in the time between now and October will give the investors cold feet.

9/3/2025 6:52am From listening to the Downtime podcast, it sounds like they usually DO have a truck but didn't have one in Les Gets, either. I would imagine that the truck is a significant asset of the company (assuming they owned it, not leased it), and as such, would be subject to freezing/holding while they're under administration in the same way as...

8/19/2025 12:10pm That was over a year ago, now! All good these days, though I had to go from a moustache to a full beard for a while, haha.

8/18/2025 8:49am Preach. Even in Bentonville, which has pretty much built the town with cycling in mind with tons of greenway, singletrack, and bike lanes... I know people who commute and have been hit and/or are nearly hit frequently. The main issue seems to be (specifically in bike lanes) with cars pulling out onto the road on which the bike lanes exist...

8/7/2025 6:40am I really like the USWE pack that I have (Airborne 3L Race), but it's one of the smaller ones that basically just holds water and has a small pouch for some nutrition and tools. Fine for a day of enduro, but possibly not for something like Stone King where you may need jackets and such. In contrast to the previous...

8/5/2025 7:42am I don't really buy the idea that Gwin was “impeded.” He started where he started just like everyone else. That’s racing. We dropped protected status from World Cups for a reason, and I don’t think it makes sense to bring it in here either. Seeding matters. The whole race weekend matters. If you mess it up, you deal with the consequences like anyone else be it riding through dust, having a weather affected run, whatever. It's not just a one run race it is a whole weekend from track walk, line choice, practice, quali/seeding, and a race run. You've got...

8/1/2025 8:40am I think like most things in life, it depends. If it’s serious or life threatening, don’t speak on it, let the family announce things when they’re ready. Did you watch the crash yourself and you could see they were know hurt, but you are not sure to what extent. Stay quiet. Did you see someone walking around the pits in public with a cast on their arm or with crutches, but it clearly happened previously in the week and they are fine. I think it would be okay to say “I saw (insert name) with a broken arm, I don’t...

8/1/2025 6:53am Etiquette Question: If you're aware that a rider crashed and/or got injured during practice at a race, is the proper etiquette to not really post about it until THEY post about it (I'm talking more regional/national races, not World Cup races where usually media is going to cover those).

7/31/2025 5:13am Solitude would need to extend quite a bit up the mountain, imo, to host a WC, which I think would require riders catching a second lift. The track was barely over 2 minutes for our pros. That being said... the proximity to a major metropolitan area really ramps up the number of spectators. The Solitude crowd was fantastic.

7/30/2025 6:26am I've heard some folks in the pits saying that the Ari DH bike isn't a great "race bike." That being said, Nick Nesteroff certainly put down a scorching quali run this last weekend at Solitude on it.

7/25/2025 5:21pm Brines – thanks for those finance blogs, some solid reads in there. I’m subscribing. On Rapha (and bike apparel in general), saw someone in the thread say, “Walmart bought it, I’m out.” Bit unfair, no? It wasn’t Walmart—it’s the Walton grandsons. Say what you want, but they’re bike fans. And if we’re being honest, if any of us were billionaires, we’d probably scoop up some cool bike brands too. I think they’ve also got their hands in Allied and Wahoo? Honestly, not the worst portfolio if you’re trying to uplift cycling. Rapha’s got a new CEO too, and from what...

7/21/2025 9:41pm It’s interesting to go back and listen to the MTB Podcast interview with the, once again, CEO of Revel and use that as a point of contrast to how people perceive Flossman. It’s also interesting to listen to him and get a different perspective on why a founder might turn to PE funding. Also: I might have missed something, but...
