hogfly Added a reply to USA Cycling 2026 National Championship Schedule
12/18/2025 9:47am Having experience past CX events at Centennial (both more regional as well as Worlds), it's a great venue for spectating. I think part of the low turnout is that the CX scene has really fallen off in NWA. There was a really lively scene here for years that's kind of dwindled away as many of the dedicated riders and organizers...

hogfly Added a reply to USA Cycling 2026 National Championship Schedule
12/18/2025 8:25am It did seem like a pretty low turnout in comparison to past National and World events at Centennial that I've attended. It also didn't feel like CX weather, as it was extremely nice every day except on Sunday, when it got cold. We mainly went up to touch base with the coaches of a couple of programs my son is...

12/18/2025 7:12am I heard about this at CX Nats last week! It’s sort of a test event from what I understand.

12/18/2025 6:34am Wrapped up @jeff.brines podcast with Sam yesterday. I'm definitely not a business wonk, but I really appreciated the high-level business discussion that was still digestable for me, as an educator who runs a school. It also gave me a lot to think about even in my own practice of being the "CEO" of a school around making tough decisions, strategy...

12/17/2025 10:12am I made the prediction earlier, but I wouldn't doubt that Ryder Lawrence ends up back on Intense after his time with HSC. "INTENSE will dedicate its racing support to US Domestic Race series, including the Monster Energy Pro Downhill Series, as well as US racers competing in select World Cups and Crankworx events." sounds pretty much exactly his program. Will...

12/17/2025 8:16am Awesome! I went to HQ in Finale and grabbed a bunch of stuff (relatively... we were traveling around so had to keep it light) from them. Just pulled the trigger on the 2025 Hurly Burly.

12/7/2025 6:42am Thanks! Fixed. I got hasty, hit the save button too quickly and forgot what I was doing. Anyone interested, here is the link to my notepad I was working with on the consumer side of things to illustrate "health of US consumer". Check it HERE (its super boring) I'm guessing people are downvoting because they hate how I'm forcing a click. The post is way too long for the forums, but for those who hate reading (or listening) for more than 2 minutes, here is my abbreviated take. ------ 2026 looks brighter for the outdoor industry, but the story is...

12/6/2025 7:53am On his recent Downtime interview, Wyn made the point that it’s pretty difficult to differentiate between race runs these days. Occasionally a rider or two will do something wild that no one else is doing. Or there may be a crash… but the reality is that all the runs kinds of look the same even to him, and even more...

Really powerful film. Takes a lot of guts to open up like that in front of the camera, and I'm impressed with Jaxson. I will add: I think that mountain biking needs more of this style of story-based films instead of gnarlier parts and shreddits. I know it feels like people don't have the patience for longer-form videos in our brainrot society.. and I'm sure this won't do as well as far as views across platforms... but it actually makes an impact on the viewer and leaves them with something that they'll remember.

12/4/2025 9:33am I tried to run/hike up Moto on one of our trips to Windrock last year, as I remember it was on an Enduro a couple of years back. I didn't make it very far up until there was a huge tree down, and I didn't feel like bushwacking to get around it and back on the trail. That trail is...

11/26/2025 5:39am You're very entitled to your own opinion, but I didn't hear the same contradictions you did. I've re-listened multiple times this morning and I still can't hear it the way you have. I heard Markus say they knew they were facing tough times but weren't expecting the PE firm to get to a point where they aren't willing to inject cash. The Fire Sale was an effort to get through that specific period without having to ask for more cash. That failed and then they were told 'no more'. As for your previous point, it's not exactly clear to me...

11/25/2025 6:59am I’ve been a long time listener to Downtime, as evidenced by my support in this thread, but the responses by other listeners in this thread have solidified my appreciation for the value it brings to our community. I’ll be supporting via Patreon as a result. I know, from listening, it’s been a tough year financially for Chris and the podcast...

11/25/2025 6:46am " You are very privelaged to be in your position whether you work hard or not." Might be one of the wildest statements I've read in awhile, and that's before the spelling... --- Chris, keep it going! Get everyone's side of the story, make some money while you're at it, and let the audience decipher the message. You (and all the other podcasts out there) are the platform, we are the interpreters, whether some of those interpreters like it or not. On a cohesive note, I think we can all agree that anyone who knows even the basic details of...

11/24/2025 7:28pm Agreed. He’s great and I love the pod. I also really enjoy, weirdly, the Downtime goes downhill series. A bunch of amateur Middle Aged Brit’s racing downhill or enduro shouldn’t be that interesting to me… but somehow it is.

11/24/2025 7:23pm This was great! Crazy fast turnaround, too. Thanks for your timely thoughts on the Downtime Podcast, Jeff. To your point about Markus being at the helm when he alleges that "PE was overly focused on growth," I agree. As I was listening to your 9-minute response, I was thinking about Andreas Kolb, who was likely signed to the 2025 YT MOB sometime around September of 2024, well after Markus came back as CEO in February of 2024. Kolb must have been a HUGE contract and represents YT choosing to double down on their DH and Enduro teams, especially given the...
