They're predicting "early summer." Bentonville Bike Fest is scheduled for 6/9-6/14. I would bet that will be official grand opening with a soft opening the weekend before. Though it's also possible (although I would hope they don't do this) that they'll try to stretch out events and do BFF that week and have another tourism draw grand opening even at...

Rain coming in tonight and through tomorrow. That place is treacherous when it gets wet. Saw insane carnage there last year from about 1:45 down through all those corners. Here's Titus's Instagram montage of the carnage from last year:

Also: Ryder Lawrence, Connor Knipscheer, and Zack Harper all announced as part of SpokeX / Mondraker Factory Development Team. Assuming they will be focusing mainly on domestic racing and Monster Pro DH Series with Clay's kid on the team, though Ryder was getting some good DHI results toward the end of the season (5th at Lake Placid and 5th at...

I went to quite a few of the Monster Pro Cups last year as well as quite a few DHSE and DH Rockies races. I THINK that Windrock was the only one that officially charged a mandatory spectator fee to be on the hill. They're also one of the only ones that has enough of a bottleneck for access to...

I worked on advocacy for the 15 minute city concept, and can tell you that literally no one has actually proposed restricting travel. That idea is a "bUt OuR fReEdUmB" talking point aimed at people who do their own "research".

They already do that at Windrock. You have to have a wristband and sign a waiver to get to a certain point on the hill (right by the Redbull Ravine and jump line there). At the DHSE last year, you had to pay a fee to spectate and get your wristband. I remember, because I wasn't trying to get on...

The best racing I've seen in ages is to be found in Jimbo Munro (and others) instagram stories. A bunch of the NZ expat summer crew (Jimbo, Alex Blanar, Finn Smith, etc..) threw together a homegrown "four cross" race on some raw tracks in NZ. So freaking sick. Sorry if you don't have instagram. Hopefully someone puts together a youtube...

Stoked they signed Fairbrother. If you haven’t followed his epic adventures, it’s worth a look!

On another board I'm on (football message board) there's a thread on the Winter Olympics. The response to the various sports on there is pretty telling on WBD's efforts to increase viewership of downhill. By and large, people are talking about how watching the various single-athlete on track competitions is somewhat boring. On the other hand, they, by and large...

I saw some video where the wet dirt was just caking up on the feet of people. I'm pretty familiar with that kind of dirt/clay. The only way they could make the bottom part of that track rideable in the wet would be to not have those huge clay-capped jumps which... wouldn't really be hardline. Throwing some gravel into the...

I wonder (and I'm just thinking out loud) if there is a chance that two wildly different places in the world might have different soil conditions that are affected by weather differently?

I agree that it can sometimes be more complex, which would require a conversation. I've had the same experience with the service writing platform on vehicles where a followup phone call is required... but at least I went into the phone call with some forewarning and understanding of the issues and what I was looking at prior to just having...

Sort of off topic, but something I’ve been pondering: Has anyone developed a good service writing platform similar to what a lot of car mechanics in the US are using now that basically texts you a link to all the different issues they’ve found, item by item, with recommended next steps and costs. Then you just approve each line item...

Just cause their president is doing things I don’t understand or agree with doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate an American team doing great stuff within their respective sport and industry. Plus who doesn’t love a bit of Springsteen
