5/4/2023 7:59am Another question for those that have gone very short: Do you raise the seat by the difference in length? Like so when pedal is down, your knee angle is the same as it was with longer cranks?

5/3/2023 7:03am Went for a set of Canfield 155s on my Trance X. It sits considerably lower than the SB6 it replaced, and I was banging pedals and near broke a toe on the stock 170s. Liked it so much I ordered another set for the hardtail and dropped my road bike to 165s. I tend to be a spinner, spinner, chicken...

4/20/2023 8:49am Ditto, on the ee's. I worked warranty/tech support for 10 years between 2 companies and have had chats with folx like Cam, but never, never did I ever think of trying to one up someone who lead off a convo by showing their sphincter. I also came up in the bike biz at the time of Kooka and Carumba so...

2/2/2023 2:16pm Machining the spacer seems like the funner of the two ideas, to me at least. I just wanted to test the waters and see if anyone else did and what they're experiencing was. As for why not buy a Pivot or Clash, it's a cost issue. I've pretty much everything but a frame at this point on hand, and stuff...

1/27/2023 7:34am Long time reader, first time thread starter. As dual 27.5 160mm frames have gotten a bit rarer to find I am looking at how to trim a mullet. This may come as sacrilege to the current hot neu trend of mullets, but you do you and I me. Thinking so far has been to raise the fork to its 180mm...

12/27/2022 2:02pm Possible stamping operation. Banshee does that with the BB/pivot/lower shock mount cradle on their bikes. You'd get near-net formed profiles and then really only need to machine in two axes. Intense does have history in sheet forming and there are shops in CA that could as well. Foes does all of their own forming too.

12/27/2022 1:55pm It displaces some of the clamp load on the tube, breaking up the concentration of clamp force into two areas. If you could off set the two clamping screws, you decrease stress on the tube. Sure, a bigger advantage in a USD, but if you can distribute stress over a larger area, the structure will be tougher overall. I have...

12/2/2022 3:36pm I am aware of that. But it doesn't preclude caliper piston slip issues still being the cause, nor a bad bleed due to air cycling between the mc bore and reservoir.

12/2/2022 3:19pm On what basis? Not trying to be an argumentative grouch, but i'd like to read what drives that thought. It was the only thing the remedied the issue once it crept up for me and was based on observation on other products from the same co, in same vintage. Granted, I didn't try other fluids, but for a problem to arise over time rather than outta the gate points to a non-fluid related issue. Regardless, I've changed brake brands and have been fine so far.

12/2/2022 2:08pm Re: The wandering bite point, I got curious as I had two SLX units develop it after a bit over 2 years of use. Warranties be damned. I installed a set of aftermarket phenolic caliper pistons and the problem went away at a slight cost. The AM units slip more than the ceramic ones, so the pad gap is reduced, but if you've set up a Formula brake it's much the same. From what I could figure looking at the pistons under 15x, the ceramic pistons have a rougher surface finish which held a lot of debris in the pores...

HexonJuan Added a comment about press release LESS BRAKES Introduces Innovative Brake Pads
6/30/2022 1:21pm Might just be me, but from a marketing/branding perspective perhaps Less Brakes is not a good name for a company selling brake pads.

Having a set of shoes start to delam during a review has put these decidedly in the 'we will see' category. I've had it happen on other shoes, which turned me to sticking with full stitched soles. At $150 I'd expect to see more life.

3/31/2022 6:39am I'll wager that Manitou is licensing the revive feature from Bike Yoke, not actually having em made by BY. Way better than just rebranding a TranzX post, but lord that lever needs some ID attention. As for other patents, it'll be interesting to see if they did something else in the post that is patentable. This is the prob with press releases. There usually isn't enough info to form an informed opinion.

HexonJuan Added a comment about press release Turnon Components Introduces the Bunker Dropper Post
3/24/2022 6:50am I have 2 droppers, a PNW and a TranzX. Both exhibited issues with grease getting pushed past the head seal in use, leaving a ring around the stanchion. The PNW has 'blow hole' (vents to the rest of us), the Tranz did not. I drilled the vents to a larger diameter on the PNW and added them to the Tranz. Both posts now return faster (without changing air pressure in either) and neither weeps out of the head seals any more. I deduce that pressure inside the posts as stock was causing the grease to get pushed out, and the...

I know that generalization hits a lot of good folk out there but, wow - you guys have a serious problem on your hands. Flatlander over here isn't even a rare exception. He's just one of the few that accidentally found himself outside the imaginary world he and his fellow bubble dwellers live in. On topic: France is outside of the imaginary world the new breed of American conservatives have created. More power to them. Push bike athletes should not be...
