11/27/2023 6:38pm Norco going high pivot on models above Fluid makes a lotta sense from a company standpoint. Product differentiation. Fluid gets the old layout, the latest n greatest wonder bikes get the high pivot treatment.

HexonJuan Added a reply to Formula Cura 4 Experience
11/27/2023 6:59am Given Hayes has complete service parts availability for the Dominions, I'm not sure why you wouldn't just rebuild rather than buy new. That's one reason I was looking at the Doms and Curas when my Shimanos developed issues, you can get caliper and MC rebuild kits as needed.
HexonJuan Added a comment about press release XFusion Shox Announces All New H3A Rear Shock
11/8/2023 6:47am Looks alright, but no interest until they get US customer service up to snuff. Lack of responses to easy enquiries, no small parts availability aside from seals, and essentially zero technical documentation are a huge turnoff to recommending and selling their forks. Thankfully S4 carries and lists parts and responds right quick to messages, but a US shop shouldn't have to get answers and parts for their customer from a Canadian service center.

10/13/2023 7:02am I used this same type of program from Giant. Had the option to have it sent to my house or a local shop and chose the shop. I then called the shop and explained they didn't bed to build it up since I'd be swapping a mess of parts on it, so it'd be easier for all involved to leave...

9/20/2023 10:26am Re: Lewis/Loongze, they are definitely not the same as the ZRace/Oniiri brakes. I have 2 sets of the ZRace/Oniiri and they're completely different internally & externally. I can't speak from the Lewis units, but the Z/O's have been faultless. Their a bit of a hybrid of Hope calipers with a Diritessima & Shimano MC love child. Gave the first set...

6/29/2023 10:39am That's prob one of the best recommendos I've seen a co make. If it goes against their financial interests and they say it anyway, that's not to be taken lightly. Kudos!

5/16/2023 10:06am Re: The Pivot Phoenix, it looks to be running Weagle's high pivot design and maybe the DW6 sus design. Looks to be a lot more happening at the BB junction box than just a high pivot with a split pivot link.
HexonJuan Added a reply to Crank length/bb height . Is shorter/lower the future?
5/4/2023 8:14am As I posted (not entirely appropriately I may add) on another thread, absolutely. I had been on 170s for a long time until I got my Trance X, which sits considerably lower than the SB66 it replaced. Stock cranks were 170s and after numerous rock strikes, one involving me wondering if I broke a toe, I decided to swap to...

5/3/2023 7:03am Went for a set of Canfield 155s on my Trance X. It sits considerably lower than the SB6 it replaced, and I was banging pedals and near broke a toe on the stock 170s. Liked it so much I ordered another set for the hardtail and dropped my road bike to 165s. I tend to be a spinner, spinner, chicken...

4/20/2023 8:49am Ditto, on the ee's. I worked warranty/tech support for 10 years between 2 companies and have had chats with folx like Cam, but never, never did I ever think of trying to one up someone who lead off a convo by showing their sphincter. I also came up in the bike biz at the time of Kooka and Carumba so...

2/2/2023 2:16pm Machining the spacer seems like the funner of the two ideas, to me at least. I just wanted to test the waters and see if anyone else did and what they're experiencing was. As for why not buy a Pivot or Clash, it's a cost issue. I've pretty much everything but a frame at this point on hand, and stuff...
HexonJuan Started a new thread Trimming a mullet
1/27/2023 7:34am Long time reader, first time thread starter. As dual 27.5 160mm frames have gotten a bit rarer to find I am looking at how to trim a mullet. This may come as sacrilege to the current hot neu trend of mullets, but you do you and I me. Thinking so far has been to raise the fork to its 180mm...
