In all sports, people are obsessed with the thought of when a legend/future hall of famer is going to retire. From this video and his AMA on the other site among a number of other interviews its always "When are you going to retire?". I don't get it... I'm tuning in to watch Minnaar race World Cups every time, hope...

Raine Liked a reply to forum topic Discussion: Sped up and manipulated MTB footage

I want to see actual videos. No "you figure it out" games, I mean seriously - people spend all day on the Internet whining about stuff... but when it domes down to the actual why are people so afraid to link who they're calling out? Like... what's the original video person going to do to you anyways?

First things first, follow @speed.police, they are the real authority on this subject. I have seen a ton of clips on instagram recently which I believe are sped up. I'm not gonna come out and point fingers and claim I know for a fact that x or y is sped up, because honestly I don't know or have any sort of proof. I just have a suspicion and it got me thinking that there is little discussion about speed-manipulated footage in MTB. There's plenty of space online for a) people with ridiculous bike skills and b) people who are charismatic...

Shopped my @ss I took the video that went viral. Neko came up to us and asked for the crank and pedal back and we gave it to him. The video was air dropped to a Canadian rider who also broke a crank there and he sent it to Vital. Believe it if you want but that’s how it went.

You can see in this photo that the cranks are the older style. They have the white letters that say "ethirteen components" and the newer 4th gen on e13's website are different cosmetically.

thanks for chiming in, aaron. it's crazy this whole ordeal turned into such chaos and wasted time. i woke up this morning to a billion texts and emails about all the drama. when the vid was posted yesterday, i didn't know it was a "leaked" video. i also chalked it up to "world cup riders are gnarly. they do gnarly things. they break stuff," and figured that the rest of the mtb community had the same reasonable way of thinking. i knew some people may comment on the crank break, but the newsworthiness of the video was that you hurt...

I shoulda been more descriptive and explained things better in that initial comment so that I'm not having to go back and clarify now. I answered a lot of these same accusations in the other responses I made on that same Instagram post but I'll give ya guys the goods too. I was just frustrated honestly. I had just got a message from the guys at Mountain creek who took the video respectfully telling me that they weren't going to send the video around, which was kind of them. One of the guys had sent it to someone else and...

I’m more upset he threw John Hall under the bus. The man is an absolute perfectionist, and there is no way a 3 year old defective part was used on a brand new build. We all know it was a squeaky clean brand new crank provided by ethirteen. Broken parts are a part of racing, call it that and move on. You can’t control the media Aaron. We are curious fans, and comments like that just further distance you from the people support your career.
