Going to rain but the amounts don’t look too bad. A couple mm’s on race day. Headed over for the La Thuille stop so let’s get the mudders out of the way.

Id rather now see well thought out bikes that didnt have QC drama... alloy bikes that are actually aligned etc than us sold on new 'geo changes' or new damper's(that are rubbish because our bikes are to light) etc suspension parts still has the most benefit, going from a tk silver to a performance is massive but the jump from a performance to a GX2 is only a small amount that most people cant even tell. going from a dpx2 to a coil is a massive difference, dpx2 is a great progressive shock(despite its very small internal shaft issues) while...

Perhaps we’re at a point that the sizing sticker on the frame is less helpful than ever. It seems more up to the consumer to read the geo charts and make decisions from there. When I bought my last DH bike, I sized up thinking I’d like a bit more reach than my previous one. I got amazing straight-line speed and confidence in the gnar, but it came at the cost of cornering, the ability to change lines quickly, and an overall sense of playfulness, and at times I felt like I was simply holding on instead of actually being...

At 6' 1", I am commonly between size L and XL. My last bike was a 2017 Commencal Meta AM size L (27.5,) and it seemed about right. However, there were times I felt like I was hunched over on it, especially while climbing. The stack height seemed pretty low, also. I just purchased a new Meta V5 and decided to go with the XL after test riding one. It's true the bike is longer, but the seatpost angle is steeper as well, so the reach actually feels about the same, size to size. Between the larger size and the...

This is exactly where I am. I think the R2 is the safe bet, but R3 might be great, or it might be a struggle. Unfortunately all the lift access stuff here is now closed for the winter so I will not get a chance to test ride anything. My local tracks are Coronet peak DH and Skyline Queenstown. Coronet...

I owned and RS1 for a few years, also on a single speed hardtail (or with gears for backcountry missions) The seal lubrication was great, but holy hell that thing could flex, I am not super heavy and I was running xc tyres, so not huge amounts of grip, but the flex in even a moderately supported corner was outrageous...

What chainring sizes are people running with shorter cranks? Maybe I'm a weakling, or maybe we have long steep climbs but honestly a 30t with a 52 rear is borderline not low enough for me with 165s. I hate to think what it would be like with 155.
Modern bikes, especially downhill bikes it seems, continue to get longer. At what point do we start sizing down or do we just keep buying the same stated size and it continues to grow but hopefully still feel good? For context, I am 180cm/5'11". The last DH bike I bought was a 2020 Commencal Supreme 29 size large, which at...

Die hard Mallet rider here and have been ever since I first tried them 12 years ago. I like the feeling of the shoe in contact with the pedal, and the fact that you can clip in by sliding your for backwards on the pedal. That's the one thing I can't deal with on other systems. In a CB pedal...

The guys who say clipless want you to ask them. Don’t pick up that feather. Like unicyclists or jugglers or unicycling jugglers, it’s best to ignore them. Let em have it. I have xt trail with the platform on a MTB and the classic little Shimano clippers on a gravel bike, I use the same shoes on both. Every time I clip in to the gravel bike I laugh at the little spaceship platforms on the mtb: they really offer zero support. But they look better. Less roadie, maybe. Flats on the eeb cuz that thing’s stuck to the ground...

Glacial Pace Added a reply to 2025 World Cup Rider Plate Numbers

Career number is cool. I think the novelty of 69 might wear thin over the years though haha. Sammi Maxwell is a beast, and 666 is the icing on the cake. Proud (import) kiwi here.
I rode dirt diggler back in 2012 on a BC road trip, it was incredible. Mt 7 psychosis track (is it called dead dog?) was also well worth it, but a shuttle is highly recommended for both. I'm sure things have changed a lot in the 13 years since I was there, but those two tracks stood out to me...
