11/11/2024 10:27am Is it a real issue for Mtb tho ? I boil my pads and discs at will, yet I haven't had any issues with fluid boiling and having me pump the lever. Maybe if I could find a pad/disc combo that I am unable to boil and have them fade, but then tue system would probably not je hot enough...

11/11/2024 10:20am No offense, but my hunch is that a $900 no-name dual crown for Surrons probably rides like a $900 no-name dual crown for Surrons. If you want to jump on that grenade to find out for the rest of us, I salute you, but I don't imagine RFloXa is killing themselves to sort out the finer points of suspension dynamics for the mostly beginner, mostly pavement-pounder Surron market in the same way that Fox, RS, EXT, or others in the high-end MTB space do.

10/26/2024 1:00pm I didn’t know what you were trying to show in the photos until I scrolled further down and you said 4, but even that is designed differently. The bottom and right ends are square on the Lewis and the cut throughs are in different locations.

10/22/2024 2:02pm That 9-45t cassette from shimano is neat. I've wanted a tighter 12 speed option for a while other than stuff like e13 and garbaruk. I ran e13's 9t stuff for a while and on most bikes it worked well, some bike shapes didn't play nice with the 9t for the most part it worked out well. Shimano had that XTR 10-45t cassette but as far as I could tell it was vapourware; I've never managed to see one in real life. But 9-45t allegedly coming on a bike? XTR LINKGLIDE being 11 speed? This is crazy. it's like they listened...

10/21/2024 5:09am ahah good point. I guess I learned about sag before learning how to speak english and never questioned the use of the term, which is actually just an english word.

10/21/2024 2:22am Saddly some events didn't allow me to do all the testing I wanted to do this weekend, keep in mind that I also had to ride with a different shock since mine blew up last week. - Lower chain guide: basically the same as Dolface, quieter and you can visually see your derailleur moving much less when cycling your suspension...

10/20/2024 6:44am Sure a racing series where everybody race the same bike/car/mtb/etc. makes for more entertaining competition where the pilot's ability is the only variable to explain his victory. But aside from that, what does it achieve ? It slows down of ever completely stop technical development, which arguably can help everyday riders have a much better time. Following your argument when...

10/20/2024 5:39am I asked ChatGPT what Sesame Seed was talking about and to be okay with being brutally honest and distasteful if it wants. Enjoy: This comment seems to be a convoluted attempt at drawing parallels between professional bike racing and motorsports, particularly Formula 1, but it’s a jumbled mess of loose associations and misplaced terminology. Let’s break it down brutally: 1. Chain Drive Skepticism : The commenter kicks off with skepticism about recent changes to bike racing due to “chain drive,” but gives no real details or context for what exactly they are skeptical about. It feels like they are grasping...

10/17/2024 2:38am Fair enough for the 6bolt limitation. You took me back in time with the original Maxle, I forgot it used to be like that, which is a much better design than most (all ?) 15mm axles currently on the market. As for the use of quick release, how often do we actually need to remove our wheels ? Unless you...

10/17/2024 2:34am You're limited on the outer diameter by the rotor 6bolt BCD or the centerlock interface. A 15 mm axle gives you the option to use a thicker section bearing which means larger diameter balls which means a higher load capacity. FWIW, 20 mm Maxle was effectively a floating axle as the DS part of it also had a wedge with a larger diameter, pushing the hub to the NDS dropout. As for 150 vs 148, 157 is the correct comparison to 148 as 148 uses the 3,5 mm ledges on either side for the hub to sit in the frame...

10/16/2024 11:06pm kind of the same reason why we got maxle type thru axles rather than pinch bolt lowers. Gained lighter weight and quicker to remove your wheel ... yay ... Also gained potentially skewed lowers if your hubs/forks are not perfectly matched which will ruin even the best burnished, lubed fork out there. Hopefully as we steer clear from that lightness...

10/16/2024 1:16pm While I agree with the wheel availability issue, the reality is, 15mm thru axles should have never been a thing in first place. What did we gain ? 10gr over the from axle ? An additional, weaker standard that doesn't allow us to use our spare wheels on our DH and Enduro bikes. Same goes for 148x12 instead of 150x12...

10/16/2024 1:09pm That has come up before, I think in an interview with Atherton? He looks at additional proprietary measure(s) that he developed and not just AS/AR/LR when he designs the system. But the brands won't say what they are. My immediate thought was that if there's this extra property that you think is beneficial to the owner, but you're not allowed to tell the owner what it is beyond some extremely vague implications about its existence, why should the prospective owner be remotely interested?

10/16/2024 1:08pm You can get really really damn close to any AS, AR*, and LR from any other platform with a linkage driven single pivot. Packaging and aesthetic would have to take a back seat but you would be surprised that all mini link/ dual link bikes can be duplicated in a linkage driven single pivot. * low AR is the one that can't get without a floating brake.

10/15/2024 4:03am AS and AR can be tuned with a single pivot, either use a split pivot like Trek, or use an idler pulley and a floating brake mount. Using those you can achieve pretty much any AR and AS levels and curves. Now this is a hot take but I feel like we are nearing the end of the low AR...
