DhDork Added a comment about press release Liv Launches Three New Women's Mountain Bikes
6/30/2016 11:13am
This is something that has continued to drive me crazy with Giant's entry level and women's FS bikes. Just because someone doesn't have $2k+ for a bike, doesn't mean they want XC geo and components. As a manufacturing leader, they should be leading the market in changing entry level bikes to have progressive geometry and component spec (wide bar, short stem) that any seasoned rider would want. To add, their women's bikes don't seem to follow suite along with their men's bikes in the same category; LONGer stems, steeper head angles.

Agreed, he's about as true to the original spirit of Rampage as it gets. It's a bit worrying that he's not one of the bros and I could see the selection committee leaving him out. Hopefully past results and fan support will get him in. I could see him doing well with the new format having balanced dig crews and more natural terrain.

Would make sense since the names are both old Shimano groupsets.

The drone is moving way to fast! We get the idea and like where it's headed. Sacrifice some of that speed for some precision flying and you'll have the next level. Reminds me of Shimano's video last year.

One thing to add, I have found Gorilla tape does not work well on Stans rims and others with beads similar to BST. The sidewall is too low and gorilla tape is too thick. Some tires will work, but most tires I've tried have a difficult time seating the bead in the limited space. For those I recommend 2 layers of Stan's tape. Also, I personally used to use it, but now I try to stay away from trimming the wide Gorilla tape. The edges tend to fray up, stick to the tire, and just generally make a big mess...

4/28/2016 7:34am I once fell victim to the cheap Oakleys online. The site used Oakley logos and images, and used their same site layout, only it appeared to be a "clearance" section of the site. What arrived had a horrendous cheap plastic smell, looked like a hot wheel vs a real Ferrari, the frame and lense colors were different to what I...

Is it just me that can't stand seeing bikes being displayed with the chain on the smallest cog? Especially when they are too lazy to cut it to length and it's still running along the derailleur cage.

Reviewed by Amanda Wentz and Courtney Steen // Photos by Lear Miller At the 2016 Vital MTB Test Sessions, we ladies got the chance to sample a few of the latest trail/all-mountain bikes to see how they perform for women. With a smorgasbord of bikes ranging from 120 to 160mm travel, women-specific to unisex, and a price range from about $3,000 to over $9,000, how is one to choose?! This year we tested three bikes in the 150 to 160mm travel range that may be options to consider. We put them (and ourselves) to the test on South Mountain's trails...

3/30/2016 8:14am Maybe not 45', but I do recall when the trail was still fairly raw, that booter was a bit bigger than it is now.

3/8/2016 7:56pm The tires shown are 2.3 Minions which is standard fare still as the Wide Trail tires haven't become commonplace yet. The team here at RMB approves of this bike, weight be damned.

I got to see one of those 2.5 Minion DHFs for a wide rim at the NAHBS, and they were massive for a Maxxis. Bigger than a 2.5 Magic Mary.

DhDork Added a reply to The 'What's Your Coolest Feeling on a Bike Ever?!' Thread
3/3/2016 7:23am Steep and deep on a rough, rooty, loamy trail. I feel most comfortable when it's a trail that you're hanging off of the bike at all angles, trying find points to take away speed rather than find speed, the suspension chundering underneath you, the tires struggling to keep their composure. Where you're in a semi-controlled free-fall down all the way...

Took a short rip down on the Riddler's bike to test these grips. In that short time it had a noticable feel in how the end of your hands take impact from the bars. I like to ride on the end of the bars so this would benefit me. Am I'm willing to cut down my, paid for, set of bars to run them? Tough call.
