No, definitely not just tuning via the base valve. But it is modified from stock for all the options being tested. The stock base valve setup on the Bomber CR/Fox Van is quite stiff and uses belleville washers. All three tuning options (Avalanche Racing, Fluid Focus, and Shockcraft) remove the belleville washers and convert the base valve to a more traditional shim stack. All three use different base valve tunes, and Avalanche uses a different needle for the bleed (LSC clicker) as well. Fluid Focus and Shockcraft both use a different main piston, while Avalanche uses the stock main piston...

The Shockcraft tuning kit is easily the most complex out of the three; the rebound circuit is fully checked using a new piston bolt and a one way valve system, the shim stacks configurations for compression & rebound are like nothing I have ever seen, and it includes a new base valve piston bolt as well so all shims are now metric sizing and much easier to source. The test track is drying out rapidly and may be good to go by this weekend. Eager to get going with this one. 🤘

shit happens to the best of us and it is possible they had a bad batch of tires and would like to know? If it is just wear then they would say no warranty and your in the same spot you were. Worth a shot!

Different brands do have different suspension feels but that’s really getting off into the weeds and most riders won’t be able to tell or care. You can sometimes run into some weird combos but thats pretty rare.

I think it's just a "the bike came like this and I have no reason to change it" thing in most cases. However I'd guess if you're in the market for new suspension, any reasons you might choose Brand XYZ for the fork probably apply to the shock too, or vice-versa. One of my bikes has a RS SDU Coil in place of a blown-up Fox X2, but there was no reason to replace the Fox fork. They both contain Vorsprung parts, though, so maybe I still have matched suspension.

I have been riding my 2026 Rallon with both a podium and a 46mm offset Boxxer C1 and it's surprising how generally similar they are. The Boxxer is still great even though it's a 6ish year old fork at this point. I have the stock 62.5 stroke Float X2 as well as a 75 stroke Super Deluxe C1 coil that I have been switching between. I did a ride a few weeks ago that had around 1200m of climbing with the Boxxer and other than the limited turn radius (rarely an issue) it was a totally acceptable experience. I am...
