Because the weight and location of the battery adds more weight to the front and the long/rearward chain-stays also drive weight forward. Don’t need to put the rider over the front wheel as much.

While I’ll never own one, I have to give credit to specialized for creating this. It’s giving me nostalgia vibes from the late 90’s/early 00’s when there was a lot of weird and wacky experimentation in DH. The fact that after 3+ years of development, this is an actual production frame (regardless of cost) is pretty cool.

Frameworks 32-Inch Testing Neko Mulally is racing a Frameworks with a 32" front wheel and 29" rear wheel for Sea Otter downhill. He says he's been riding a bit back at home and had to purchase the front tire online (1 of 2 that he could find). He's surprised by the traction but did indicate that if it broke free, it broke free without warning. He was able to cram in a 29" rear wheel despite the rear triangle being made for 27.5. His philosophy is that it's worth the experiment to figure out if there's something more to pursue...

If you haven’t pedaled a TQ, it feels closer to a normal bike. Newer TQ60 is supposed to very efficient, you can’t break physics a watt is a watt. It’s not like Avinox M2S is drastically more efficient, probably less than TQ. Harmonic ring motor design should have higher efficiency than helical gear system in the M2S for biking parameters...

This is cool detail and makes my interaction with Specialized last year even more aggravating. The Status frame is only advertised as ASTM Cat 4 (i.e., no dual crown), yet they sell a complete version of the bike with a dual crown while advertising its ability to jump and ‘Freeride’. I called them on multiple occasions to try and figure out where the discrepancy came from (maybe they tested it to Cat 5 or internal testing to verify the dual crown but didn’t want to advertise it?) and nobody could give me even a semblance of a true answer. One...

ASTM F2711 came up when I ran an inquiry, different than the ISO 4210. Category designations are separate standard F2043 from what I understand. When I spoke the Trek PM a while back, he said the Slash meets the CAT 5 testing except for the dual crown requirements, which why it was only rated at CAT 4. Please correct anything...

New cooling strategy looks way more robust on the TQ60, giant heat sink on the bottom. Plus bigger 580wh battery should help, sustained battery output seems to be bigger limiting factor. Sorry, 200 but still on TQ50 and haven't overheated the motor. I run the motor nerfed below maximums.
