5/22/2026 10:23am And that's the concern, not that the new Tallboy isn't a "good bike" it's probably pretty good for the average rider, but that SC is losing focus on what made them good. It's that cost savings comes before design and brand identity. I can see why Rob Roskopp left the brand.

5/21/2026 9:20am 0% APR financing actually does make more sense financially, assuming you have the cash on hand already and might invest the savings as you pay it off.

5/21/2026 9:14am I feel like you answered your own question when you said " a ton of people already do it for SXS, boats, and motorcycles." If the SXS, boat, and motorcycle people are making money by financing their overpriced toys, why would high-end bike companies not want to get in on the action with their overpriced toys? Yes, financing a high-end shiny ebike is completely unnecessary, unwise, financially imprudent, all of that. But so are cigarettes and gambling, and they're doing great!

5/20/2026 12:43pm This seems completely unnecessary though. Financing and leasing cars makes sense because they are necessary in most of western society, but blingy brand new mountain bikes are not. You can have almost as much fun and exercise on a $700 marketplace hardail as a $12,000 ebike. Financing toys just seems like a bad idea, yet a ton of people already do it for SXS, boats, and motorcycles. Nice bikes are cool, but going into debt or leasing something because you need to keep up with Joe Shmo next door who has a Mercedes Sprinter van and pivot ebike with titanium...

5/19/2026 2:18pm This frame looks nearly exactly like my 2019 Transition Sentinel with Cascade link (Nothing wrong with that, I love that bike hence why I have it). I guess my point is, I haven't seen a new bike that has enticed me in any meaningful way for years.

5/19/2026 9:17am Niner shutting shop shouldn't surprise anyone. They haven't done anything relevant in near a decade. Geo and aesthetics for their full sus platforms are very much off the back. That they lasted as long as they did was always a wonder to me.

5/15/2026 1:05pm Yeah, idk why a top 20 is any indicator if this works or not. I tried high rise bars and it just led to me loosing front wheel grip and not having trust in the front wheel not washing out. But I'm just riding very conservative to avoid crashes so it's really hard to say if the new tech with 32 inch wheels and weird bar heights will translate to recreational riding.

5/15/2026 12:59pm I don't think you can even draw conclusions about the effectiveness of a bike setup based on a rider's race results. IMO results are much more dependent on the rider themselves. I love Reece and he seems like a fantastic dude, but I haven't ever really regarded him as a top tier racer. I bet if you forced Jackson Goldstone...

5/15/2026 12:56pm If you haven’t already, check out Vital’s latest PIT BITS for a quick overview of Reece’s particular setup. While there is a lot of interesting tech on Reece’s bike, one defining feature is the prototype raised reversed stem manufactured by Be More Bikes. Reece combines this stem with high rise bars to create a tall stack with reduced reach. This allows Reece to extend at the hips more, creating a tall, upright riding posture. However, doing this causes his center of mass to shift backward, disrupting the front-to-rear weight balance on the wheels. To counteract this and redistribute weight back...

5/13/2026 2:12am I used to struggle with hand pain for a long time; over my many attempts to find a solution for my problems, I believe I've arrived at a pretty good setup. For one, I don't wear gloves anymore. I can't say I've had my gloves bunch up, but I did find that I gripped harder when I wore them, which contributed to my hand fatigue. Going gloveless meant I had to find a nice pair of grips that didn't get too slippery when my hands started to sweat. As opposed to thick grips, I found that thin mushroom-style grips like...
