A higher pivot creates less squat, but any vehicle with pivot based suspension will squat under acceleration unless there is another force (like chain tension, compression damping) counteracting it UNLESS the pivot is unreasonably high.

When your center of mass accelerates there is a rearward weight transfer. The extreme example if you accelerate so fast that the front wheel lifts and all weight is on the rear wheel. If the IC is just above the wheel axle, it is correct to say that the net reaction force on the axle acts to extend the suspension, however the rearward weight transfer often acts to compress the suspension to a greater degree. You pretty much can't get a pivot high enough to have zero chain growth and reasonable anti-squat. The contact patch with the ground is not what directly creates anti-squat, though. The contact patch creates a moment about the axle. You could also view it as the chain creating a moment about the axle. Either or because the moment created by each is the same. Keep in mind that the bike and drive train are not static when pedaling. There is a net force experienced by the axle which is a sum of that created by chain tension and contact patch...

It was released 9 months ago. Long enough for people to have had it for a good portion of a season and then an entire off season. You'd be surprised how many people change their mind in that time period. But really the market is the large amount of people who are big Stumpjumper fans and wouldn't be interested in buying another bike but are curious what a high pivot version of the exact same bike might feel like. There has never been one (at least not that has been visible) before.

Answered this in the forum, but will drop the answer here for people that don't go to the forums. Have not test fit it on an aluminum frame yet. I don't see any reason it wouldn't work, but can't verify until it has been test fit.

On the page for the kit if you scroll through the images there is one of chain growth rate. That is essentially an anti-squat graph that focuses on how chain impacts the suspension. I prefer mathematically tangible metrics over tracing lines. Any number greater than zero means chain tension acts to raise the BB. The other component of anti-squat is axle path, but that plays a minor roll comparatively. As for pedal kickback, that can be gleaned from chain growth. Over full travel it's about half that of the standard pivot placement.

The standard link and yoke are. Haven't gotten a chance to test fit the high pivot kit on an aluminum frame yet though. I don't see any reason it wouldn't work. If anyone in the greater Seattle area has an aluminum frame and wants to find out, swing by and we can throw it on.

Air shocks aside, the temp of the shock doesn’t really tell you anything if you don’t know the tune and what it has just done. It’s a simple conservation of energy equation. The heat generated by the damper is the work it has done to absorb impacts.

Motive calipers seem to be identical to DB8 calipers with the exception of two of the models use a banjo instead of compression fitting. DB8 calipers are pretty much Code calipers with a compression fitting and different aesthetics. So the difference in performance really comes down to the levers.

The bolts are torqued and pre-tensioned so they are not a passive element and are acting on the stiffness of the caliper in a different way, all other things being equal this can result in a stiffer caliper than an equivalent 1 piece design. You can do a bad job of designing either type of course.
