How does "your riding" miss the point. While I can pluck down anything on a fully rigid bike it's not my preference. I have a capable long travel hardtails that mostly just gets used as a gravel bike and riding with my kids because as much as I love a hardtails it's again not my preference for the trails I ride most. I struggle to grasp that someone can't figure out what the ideal bike is for their most loved trails they rode most frequently.

For the park rats, depending on what trails you actually ride, a shorter travel bike may make the most sense. A lot of full-on DH bikes feel a bit "sleddy", if you spend all your time on A-Line. But yeah, these kinds of builds will always be pretty niche, that's for sure. I had a good time when I did a "downduro" conversion of my Capra back in 2020, I liked how the bike rode.
