I heard all this Syndicate banter is that they're dropping CLIF as a sponsor and picking up Kendall Jackson. Rumor is that there will be a signature Greg Minnaar pre-race red blend (some sort of Pinot Noir/Syrah combo) and Syndicate post-race sparkling. Guess it took a while for Loris to get on board with an American wine company but they figured it out.

Not surprising, but still a bummer. I've been every year since 1991. Great place to catch up with old friends.

Great discussion so far. Thanks to all for contributing. J Brines, when I read the rules on the EWS site that you linked, they are clear to me, although I do admit I had to read them a few times. You dodge the test or don’t comply with the testing procedures, you loose. You fail the test they (they being a governing body that EWS has invited in, in this case) administer, you are banned from further competition. If you fail, you can then appeal the ban and EWS will make the call on how they are gonna handle it...

I have heard this described by professional race car drivers as “racecraft.” Kind of a cheesy term, but it summarizes well what you have described. Bummed to hear this. Both races have huge potential. We have had a crappy hand dealt to us in the last 8 months here in Durango and Silverton. What we need is some slow, steady rain and a good winter ‘18-19 to bring it back. I just rode some of the great terrain off Coal Bank Pass today.
