Jumping back to the new Derailleur by Sram: I just realized that because the derailleur is sandwiched between the two mounting plates it looks like there is no longer any rotation that you usually have with a traditional derailleur mounting bolt. Sort of like a "hall lock" built into the design of it. I'd hope that would help with chain slap. It's become pretty well reported from many people that they feel like the clutch on the AXS derailleurs isn't as tight as Sram's cable-actuated equivalents. I have heard a couple of people say this is because the electric motor...

No one is saying there is no aero involved in DH. As you pointed out, the speed tuck has proven to be efficient, sometimes even more than pedalling on the same section. That being said, most aero mods such as covers on the frame, cable routing (internal, through the headset...),... have no or a very limited impact due to so many parameters involved (ground surface, body position, avg speed...). Seems pretty obvious just watching a WC race. I think overall the body position and thus the overall "profile" you have going through the air has wayyyy more impact than any...

Hear me out, I’m just spit balling here. The chainstay can’t actually grow, in terms of length, without the wheelbase growing as well, right. I get the fork compressing, and moving back, so effectively shortening the wheelbase, but I thought the idea behind the added stability of HP bikes was a lengthening of the wheelbase (relative to its static, or sagged position) Is it possible, that the RC isn’t lengthening, it’s just moving further up from the bb while cycling through the suspension (so I guess lengthening if it were to be on the same plane, but they’re not, so...

New things from shimano ebike side. embn had a video up about ep6 motor and automatic shifting before it got taken down. Ad up on the other site mentions ep6 and 'cues' di2. The image also has what likes to be a di2 derailleur but not the old style so assuming its the new one spotted at e-ews?

From this picture it indeed looks like there is a link pulling something roughly below the BB

Horst and Kalle developed it together, and Horst took it to the US and sold it to Specialized, who held the patent for US only. Kalle couldn't care less about monetizing on the patent, and let all European and others use the patent. This is why lots of European bikes weren't sold in the US and A until the patent expired.

I think TheShortestCharles drawing (from page 257) is quite accurate on how the shock and linkage are connected to the chain stay/swingarm.

New Demo photos gave me the impression there's a link running below the BB, so here's another guess at what that could look like. The shock linkage is essentially the same as the old (V4) Supreme DH and the Actofive P-Train, with a very similar LR curve to the current Demo and Enduro (linearly/straight progressive), which might make it more plausible. And here's a bonus approximation of that Forbidden:

A design like that can only mean that the shock is solely conected (probably by some kind of linkage) to the chain stays, which means the chain stays have to sustain a lot of bending forces. Just like a swingarm on a dirt bike. The demo's "swingarm" looks a lot like the swingarm design KTM is using on some of...
