MeteoSwiss (Swiss weather bureau) is forecasting a small amount of rain on Thursday and Friday (qualifying). Saturday is forecast to be clear and sunny.

There's a small weather formation in the swiss alps which seems to be going against the historic heatwave and droughts in nearby countries like Italy.

it appears Rachel Atherton will be trying to race, which is rad! so stoked to see her back on the track with the clock running!

i often wondered what the official "world cup racing mom" stats were and thanks to stikman, he let me know about regina stiefl in the 90s who dominated the circuit as a mother with two children. he mentioned that leigh donovan (his wife) raced world champs in 2010 (coming out retirement) and got 8th with their 5-year-old daughter in tow at the time. Kathy Sessler was a racing mom and there may be more. any additional insight would be awesome.

not trying to take away from any of rachel's achievements this weekend at all. i couldn't imagine dropping in for a WC DH run (terrifying on its own), and then hitting the pits to breastfeed your child. just thought this piece of history was pretty important.

Sessler was the original “mom” racer, had a sticker at Troy Lee Designs “One Fast Mutha”…but, Regina Stiefl was iconic, her 2 kids would come to the world cups, her husband Peter also was a World Cup racer. I believe Regina was 95’ Overall World Cup champion, she is a legend.
As Spomer said, be cool to be reminded of any other moms that raced at that level and super cool to even see Rachel sign up and give it a go, she is remarkable.
GO MOMS!

Made me think about Dads, I think Brendog making the finals last World Cup and Blenki are the 2 dads? We know Mick was a bad ass World Cup Dad…curious to know all the ‘parents’ that race World Cup level, I can’t imagine having that on my head.

Not DH, but Gunn Rita Dahle also kicked some ass after having children in XC.

I don't know about any other mom DH racers, but Danny Hart is a father of 1 1/2 kids (one on the way.)

I'm excited to see Rachel Atherton return to timed WC racing. I hope she exceeds her expectations and rides clean!

yes there is a Doco about it, Peaty finished worlds in Canberra 09 on that "mountain" and afterwards there is footage of him ringing his wife and son on a hilariously 2000's flip phone. Tugs at the heart strings.

Peaty won Ft. Bill "con hijos".

There are stories from the other side as well; Willow Koerber (Rockwell) tried to come back to XC World Cup racing after having a kid and ended up pulling the plug on it all after a few races.

With DH I think the mental aspect can outweigh the physical. I know I think about high risk situations much differently now that I have children.

Rachel is a legend even if she never races another WC, it will be interesting to see what happens.

Matthew Fairbrother (matthewfmtb) posted a video on his IG story of Finn Iles crashing pre quali run on the new off camber section and it looks like he absolutely cleaned his clock! He obviously still lined up and qualified afterwards but it looked like a heavy hit to the head. Not good to see considering he's already missed races this year from a concussion.

Finn reposted a different video of it on his story but the angle makes it look like less of a hit.
