2019 Trek Remedy 8 Bike
Versatile bike
The Good
-Stiffness
-Durability
-Design
-Looks
-Not too long
The Bad
-Maybe too stiff?
-Re:Aktiv shock
-Knock block
-Provided dropper is a bit short
-Main pivot bearing should be bigger
Overall Review
Been riding this for 2 years. It is a good trail bike out of the box. However, I feel that the stiff chassis begs rowdier riding. The steering is super precise and it never feels like the bike would not handle the abuse. I have been jumping all the biggest stuff there is around where I live. For the majority of time I have had a 180 mm air spring in the fork I have fitted a 230x65 Super Deluxe coil and put the flipchip in the low position. This gives good bb hight ~165-170mm in the rear and a

2021 Marin El Roy Steel Hardtail
The Good
Dialled progressive geometry and durable spec, Super Fun, smooth, compliant steel, stable and very fast downhill, great climber, "steady" all rounder
The Bad
On the heavy size, limited sizing, a bit uninspired on the flat or mellow trails
Overall Review
3month update I've been riding the Marin Elroy since early October now, so I felt a good time to add an.updated review. First I think adding a little about me as a rider, and what kind of terrain I ride might set the scene a bit more for any of you considering getting this ultra modern hardtail from Marin. I'm 5'10, 210 lbs, from NW UK and ride a "regular" El Roy. Typical riding grounds are steep, muddy, loamy rocky and rooty - lots of steep long, fireroads, tight technical climbs and steep

Race Face Aeffect R Wheelset
Overall Review
When asked to put the new Aeffect wheels from Race Face through some testing, I was wondering if I was the right person for the job. Even though I’m on the hefty side of things (~200lbs.,) I’ve rarely had issues with wheels. Granted, I have only ridden wheels that I personally built for most of the last 25 years or so, but still- I haven’t broken a spoke in at least 6 years, don’t tend to damage tires, and only dent rims when I tell myself “that rear tire feels a little low, I should probably

etnies Marana Crank Shoe
The Good

-Reasonable price
-Not too flashy looking
-Durable sole and shoe in general
The Bad

-A bit tight/narrow fitting
-Sole pattern or rubber could be grippier
Overall Review
This summer I thought I'd try something new as I have been riding a few pair of Teva shoes since the last 8 years and was getting a bit tired to see them. The fit was good, but since they weren't the freshest pairs (I bought a few when they stopped their MTB line a while ago), I thought that getting new shoes I'd get a bit better grip. Etnies came out with the Marana last year, and they looked like they were ticking all the boxes of what I was looking for. Since I'm not a fan of flashy colors

Shimano SLX SM-CRM75 12-Speed Chainring
The Good

-Reasonably priced compared to aftermarket brands
-Excellent chain retention
-Great durability
-No creaking from the interface
The Bad

-Could be available in more teeth count options
Overall Review
When I built up my new bike this past spring, I knew that the drivetrain would be all Shimano. I simply prefer their trouble-free double-bolt crank arm installation, nicely shaped aluminium arms, and I had an HG driver on my hub. Going with the new 12 speed stuff, I chose the XT M8120 crankset for the better looks over the SLX M7120 (the blueish-grey color didn't fit with my bike's colorways), but I picked up the SLX CRM75 chainring as it was cheaper than the XT for pretty much the same quality

Öhlins TTX22M Rear Shock
The Good
Great small bump sensitivity, improved backend braking considerably
The Bad
Nothing really - After 2 years finally running a bit rough and sending back for Ohlins for a tune (this is to be expected)
Overall Review
Ibought this as my first coil 2 years ago for my Spec Enduro 2017. I immediately felt much more confident on the bike as during braking the rear end felt glued to the ground. The only downside to coils is having to switch the actual coil if someone else is riding your bike like my 14 year old son or if you lose 20 pounds. No problems with the Ohlin coil to date. Doing first service now, shipped back to Ohlins in NC, USA.

RockShox Monarch 2019 Rear Shock
The Good
simple, easy to maintain, light
The Bad
if you are on the heavy side - go with a shock that has a piggyback
Overall Review
Ihad that shock on my Santa Cruz Bronson. I was okay, nothing spectacular, it just worked. After a while did a upgrade to a Monarch with piggyback and it was better.
