Woof…Spoke too soon hope Roger’s alright after that. Bummed that happened to him, seems like a great dude trying his butt off to make it to the top.

Changed the thread title to encompass all things cockpit and contact point related in an attempt to give a place for these discussions and hopefully stop the tech rumours thread from being derailed too often.

Done. Although the title has been censored, Vital don't seem to like the word 'cockpit'. Now back to tech rumours, has anyone heard anything about GT strengthening their DH frames? Asking on behalf of Roger Viera.

Thanks. I suppose this is what they do in other sports, but I think I prefer the old system.

Can anyone explain why the No.1 plate doesn't exist in male elites this year, when it does in all other categories?
I was obviously on some pretty strong drugs when I said the track didn't look as gnarly, it's a beast. There's some very busy mechanics in those pits if some of the noises are anything to go by. Looking at the photos on the other site it doesn't look like that privateer award deal is working out too well for...

In my view the big problem with the high speeds riders are reaching is that slowing down the tracks isn't compatible with what the broadcasters want. While they might put in chicanes and bus stops like they have in VDS I think speeds will still be very high and these features won't slow riders in the same way as tech...

Yeah, as a former "pro" XC racer (- had a team and sponsorship contracts but wasn't ever fast or got noteworthy results) I think the whole EDR-E thing is pretty disgusting. It is a competition ( - I'm hesitant to even call it a sport) where the deciding factor is not your skill, power or endurance, but mainly who has the best equipment. Claiming that mountainbiking and e-biking are the same thing is literally like saying that it's the same wheter you hike up a mountain or take the gondola to the top. The whole e-bike "racing" thing is basically...

Whilst it's cool that Crankworx goes to some different places, I think they need to find some new venues with better tracks for DH. Innsbruck, Cairns and Rotorua DH tracks are all a bit meh IMO. I'm hoping the new track for Whistler will be a bit more interesting. It's a shame it's so close to the Worlds, I can't...

So eso wants to make some pretty major changes to the sport so it'll more appealing to casual viewers, growing sport, more eyeballs watching.... I don't think many casual viewers end up behind a paywall. I'm not calling bs on you Mike, (I know ball has said those things), I'm calling bs on eso/ball.

I read about half the comments. Seems like a good amount of you live in the woke bubble. I highly suggest you never watch South Park, your outrage might cause a heart attack. What’s even more ironic is that ad was the banner on top of this thread. It so barely sexual I can’t even understand why some of you are upset? Do you make your wives or girlfriends dress like pilgrims to avoid showing any skin and causing arousal? Half the butts are dudes. Go ride your bikes more.

Just to be clear, I don't think the over arching idea of having a conversation is a bad thing or "waste of time" (the opposite actually). What I feel is a waste of time is this form of conversation. Its too easy for nuance to get missed, and points to get lost. I guarantee if we were at a bar/coffee shop having a few hour conversation it'd be 1000x more fruitful. You did get one thing right, I am a sucker for this regardless of what my prefrontal cortex may tell the less evolved part of my brain.

Gauging participation based on what you see through your lived experience is an impossible data point to debate. There are many reason you may feel participation is lower in the female cohort than more rigorous studies have suggested, right on down to the fact that there is selection bias built in & we as humans are terrible at actually recalling anything close to something of statistical importance. Your rambling aside, the big underlying theme here is there are people in this thread that see men and women as being one in the same and those who acknowledge gender differences. Again...

My predictions continue to ring true. The company issued an apology, but ultimately nothing will change because you have not drawn a straight enough line between a problem and solution. Your hypothesis (mountain biking isn't inviting to woman) is based on what data exactly? Participation? Are you certain woman and men will always participate in all sports at a 50/50 split? Are you sure butts on a screen is the reason women aren't willing to participate at higher levels? Despite the woke capture of universities in the United States, there remains a pile of data to suggest gender participation in...

Sigh. 100 to 1? According to what dataset? VitalMTB is a website, not a reflection of reality. The actual demographic mix is something between 70-30 and 80-20. Back when I produced an all women ski film I dove into the demographics data across a number of mountain sports in painstaking detail. Most mountain sports mirror this 80-20 to 70-30 mix and hasn't changed too much over the last 10 years (though it has moved toward more women participating, which is awesome). Why has it changed? Its really hard to point at a single variable but I'd argue technology being more...

i thought the same. aside from the top 10 seconds of lenzerheide, it was the same as last year and leogang was the same too, right? i haven't watched dean vid yet, but the low-slung, non-breakable tape seems to be a significant problem, taking out a few riders as they snagged it and went OTB after blowing off course. @dolface - yep, EDR is off until september 1 and after VDS this weekend, the next race DH isn't until august 23 - world champs are in the middle of all that, however. re: rob and eliot in the cwx dh...
