1/23/2025 10:03am A LOT of anticipation/expectation around Aletha's (Ally O's 😁) upcoming season. My thinking is that joining Canyon Collective sets her up well for it. I'm trying out the "Ally O" thing. Maybe it will stick. Maybe I'll get a thump on the head next time she spots me.

Abby Hogie is currently ranked 42nd in Women's Elite, so she can continue to race World Cups as long as she is in the top 50, according to the new rules. Seeing as she won the IXS overall last year and is planning to race the continental series this year against many of the same riders, I'd suspect she should be able to stay within the top 50 riders in UCI points. None of her points come from world cups, only 40 from world champs, and the rest are all from US nationals and IXS.

We have entered the part of silly season where people float (and debate!) wild speculation that a 42 year old Dan Atherton returns to downhill (last result was 57th at Crankworx in 2018) on a new rubber band bike to chase a $100k podium. Perhaps we need an award for most ridiculous rumor every year. 🤣🤣🤣

I kinda assumed that Norco took a look at the landscape, saw an opening amongst North American (and specifically Canadian) brands, and is now making a longer term play to increase its market presence. Basically step into a void created by Rocky Mountain and Devinci, both of which are withering.

There are a few factors: - Norco is owned by LTP, which is a distributor of other brands in Canada. Norco has long been financially floated by the relative profitability of LTP - At one time Norco had a solid XC team, a DH team, sponsored the Gehrigs for Enduro and had Jill Kintner and Bryn Atkinson, and a bunch of others at the same time not too long ago.
