Suns_PSD Added a reply to MegNeg - What settings do you run?

7/3/2020 4:21pm
I weigh 180# and ride a large Foxy 29 with an Avalanche tuned Rockshox RT3 shock and added the MegNeg sometime back. The LR on my bike is Progressive - Linear - Regressive. This sort of has the effect of having a great pedaling platform, maybe using travel a bit too quick at times, and then it will bottom if...

I have no idea how many Mods Vital has and I certainly don't speak for all of them if others do exist. But I am one. And I strongly disagree with you Sirah. This thread started long before this whole virus thing started and you didn't seem to mind it then. Now we're all stuck here clicking away looking for content and small companies and startups are dying. I'm intrigued to see this tech early and try to guess how it works and others are too. This start up is stoked to have some pre release exposure which is not...

Fox missed the chance with the 38, when they should have been building a 36 dual crown.

In order of importance, but also considering bang for the buck: 1) A bike rear suspension design that pedals well. Nothing matters more to me and creates more overall speed. 2) Tire inserts, front and rear. I like Tubolights. 3) Then lots of tire experimentation and finding the best tires possible. E22 front and Agarro rear our my preferences. 4)...

Suns_PSD Added a comment about press release Mondraker and the Birth of Modern MTB Geometry

2/8/2020 7:44pm
Mondraker builds fantastic bicycles that were not only ahead of their time, but they seem to understand where the correct geometry balance is where other manufacturers, chasing trends, went too far. I own 2 Foxy's in fact. That said, I don't love uber short stems, I feel like they hinder front end traction on flat turns.

How does the OneUp bar compare to the Renthal FatBar CarbonLITE in compliance? No one shows that and I'd really like to have a comparison. Thanks

Drink a beer before you ride. I did this once inadvertently and proceeded to set a KOM and a handful of top 10s and I'm pretty average, and 48 (and started at 43). I rode so loose and comfortably it was like an entirely different experience. Also seemed safer, just not being in my head but being in the moment...

Great content! Thanks for the meaningful review of more affordable bikes. One thing I would love to see — does spending 10K on a bike actually make you faster than a rig you can put together in the range of $3500-$4000? I’d absolutely love to see a review that includes timed tests in conditions as controlled as possible (to make the comparison meaningful) with really capable bikes in the $3500-$4000 range and the really high end stuff that is $8k+.

I like the idea of an exception for E-bikes on public lands made for those with handicap plates. Keep riding Joe! However Joe represents a very small minority of E-Bike users.

Different story Joe. I don’t think anyone has issues with impaired people riding them. However, that’s max 5% of the eBike market. The rest are just lazy, instant gratification types that are all too common in society these days.

A bike that turns everyone into Nino Schurter on climbs, allows beginners access to the highest (often rowdiest) trails and doubles the distance/trail degradation they can do in the same time is a completely different sport. Yes I’ve ridden a couple. My comments stand.

Does it have a motor? Is it a 'cycle"? Then?... Unless you're disabled or over 70 yrs old, stop being a lazy fat-ass and pedal a bike without a motor on non-motorized trails. If you want a motor, get a dirtbike. I do both. Both are mega-fun. But let's not jeopardize trail access of MTB by riding MOTORCYCLES on trails with hikers, runners, old people, dogs, blah, blah.

I'm no EWS racer, hoping to ride my first Enduro race later this year. However I'm a reasonably fast trail rider and I chase the rougher trails and no doubt about it I'm dramatically faster overall on easier to pedal tires. Not even close really. The energy saved is a real benefit as well on the descents. Try the Hans...
