I have a Macride and it's great. Really fun for both of us, and starts teaching kids some things like cornering and managing bumps. I've taught my son 'butt up!' when things get a little rough and he's learned to float above the saddle. Shortly after learning this last summer, we were watching the Vallnord race and he said "they better get their butt up." It's so much more fun for them than being in the trailer or a seat behind your back (I got those, too. They never get used anymore). One of the things to be aware of...

Seeing old freeride bikes makes me want two things. 1. Someone to build a 26" bike but with modern geometry. 2, More NWD films. Always makes me laugh when people say, 26" wheels are more 'flickable.' No, its just that most 26" bikes were BMX bikes with 6+ inches of travel. Its pretty easy to throw around a bike that has the same geo as a modern day 12 year old's bike.

Thanks for the review. Were thinking about getting one of these two systems soon. Currently we use the Josh Bender method for carrying our kid and it works pretty damn well. But as our kid gets bigger these setups seem like a little more fun for him.

While I do not disagree with your sentiment, it is worth noting that this was filmed during the Sedona MTB festival, a couple of weeks ago, while town was at maximum capacity. It can also be argued that this is in fact important to my daily routine as this is a large part my current job. I feel very fortunate to be able to work and exercise outside right now. Sedona closed restaurants, bars and gyms, officially, last night. A bit behind the curve, if you ask me. I am certainly respecting social distancing protocol and agree that we all...

S O C I A L D I S T A N C I N G... except opening riding shot is homey hanging out with 4 other dudes. For this shit to work we really have to cut off contact with anyone not important to our daily routine. If you think about it each of those guys could have been in contact with 5 other people and those people could have had contact with 5 other people. So now your only two steps removed from 125 people. Not saying dont go out and exercise, just go do it alone... Because...

@ NF-31 I think your answering exactly why there arn't more long travel/freeride/enduro whatever you call it bikes. The largest group of people in our sport who are spending money on bikes is the new rider or intermediate class rider. People who only have been in the sport for under five years. Same reason why the most ridden trail at...

This bothers me. Every person who has ever been behind the wheel of a car should play the song Battery going down the highway Start to Finish. When the song ends, look down at the speedometer. If you're not breaking the law at that very moment and going ungodly fast...you aren't metal.

I just wish companies would offer decent spec on their ALU rigs. I don't want to buy an aluminum complete only to have to instantly replace breaks, shock and possibly fork as well. Any brand putting LevelT or low end guide brakes on there "enduro" bikes can fuck right off.

awesome comments and response from all of you! thanks so much. i even had a couple audio responses sent as well as some email responses since this went up. re: derby photo - that trail looks so freaking fun and it's a rad shot from sven that illustrated a machine-built trail. no way am i implying that trail isn't fun/good/etc. pinkrobe and losifer bring up some great points about what a flow trail actually is (not all flow trails are "easy", but generally speaking, they are often aimed at entry- or intermediate-level riders). keep it up!!
