Intend Flash 35 Update The rain has finally come and the trails have been excellent as of late with the Flash getting some ride time and tuning. This is one of the best trails around, segment 28 of the Colorado trail above Durango. Roughly a 15 minute descent, great for suspension testing and tuning. Being very similar, I assumed that the air spring settings from the Edge would transfer over to the Flash. This has not been the case. The air spring setup from the Edge running at 175mm was much too linear for the Flash at 190mm. Currently experimenting...

Regardless of what any of our opinions are on the Nine One, I want to say thanks for being so involved in this thread and wanting to communicate clearly and directly. My responses are out of concern for a rider who spent what I consider to be a large amount of money with my company, and not being happy with the results. That's not acceptable to me. It doesn't matter where the customer bought our product; I only ask as it helps with context. In the case of my first post, the rider was trying someone else's fork, so there's no more than I could offer. In regard to the post that you linked...something about the original fork that Skunk Works received just seemed off, and we wanted a longer look...

I guess I should have put an emoji in my comment, as this was meant to be tongue-in-cheek mostly. That being said, it is my understanding that the Dorado fender is a one-piece structure completely integrated into the guards, much like what DVO did, which is different than what we're doing. As for EXT, their system was introduced long after we had begun going down this path. At the end of the day, we'll just have to see how things play out. This is definitely not my area of expertise. A couple of notes to consider. Spring Rate. Yes, you're in the camp of riders that we developed the Sub Chamber system for. The V2 Sub Chamber is 100% backwards compatible with that fork. Chassis. This is a tricky one as the the front hub plays a significant role in how the chassis performs. This is why there's such a broad range of rider feedback in regards to stiffness with inverted forks. Unfortunately not yet, other than in the driveway. There are a few other projects to take care of first, but soon! There are some slight updates between forks; the brake hose guide is now a compression molded carbon piece instead of simply being cut from a carbon plate, and the rebound knob is bigger and easier to turn. Compared to the Edge, the Flash crown is larger and has more overlap on the legs.

Yes it sounds like you have a leaking negative spring. There shouldn't be a large amount of pressure in there at all, there might be the faintest hiss from the fork being assembled fully extended and compressed down, or from huge changes in temperature/altitude but what you describe is a leaking spring, especially the way it felt almost locked out

Another follow up. I have now had this fork on a few rides. I texted cornelius once again about the small bump sensitivity and i got a very quick reply again. This fork was laying around for quite a while and he advised me tho loosen up the screw on the top of the air side and move the stanchions. Apparently there was fairly much air traped and it neede to go. Ever since i did this, the fork has been flawless and got a very nice small bump performance. Paper products from Germany can only mean one thing, new fork day! This is the Intend Flash 35, it can be run from 160mm to 190mm. Very similar to the Edge; but with a more robust crown, longer legs, and slightly different uppers. After initial riding and then a full tear down and inspection, there will be some parallel testing with a 35mm Boxxer. Both forks will be run at 190mm of travel on a DH bike. The "weeping" from the windows of the crown is not very common, and mostly traced to customers who pressure wash their bikes. They stopped pressure washing, and we stopped seeing a problem. As for this specific fork, it could be residue from assembly, or it could be other factors. In each case, it's a temporary factor that, if cleaned, goes away. This is something we didn't experience in testing over the years, but it is something that we have seen in a handful of customer forks.
