Show any bike rider any WC pro or a top tier freeride dude on just about any trail and nobody will question its "badassedness" I'm not saying KC totally sucks, but you literally could take any good regional pro racer and they'd make this look better. I'll take a hard pass. Bern riding 2 wheels since I was 5. Also am an insurance broker. I backed off the really insane stuff on anything but the DH BIKE long ago. If I'm doing something that I need that much coverage for, not gonna do it unless I'm on my DH bike and warmed up & in my TLD D3. Wrecking is still something either completely under our control or utterly unforeseen and you cannot name WHERE you take the hit. The notion of "I will take the added protection"...I do not get it. I see a lot of racers and consumers that have suffered accidents where they have hit their head, not once have I said with a half shell "Damn, if they only had their ears covered". So its 'perceived' protection IMO. Added heat and weight, why not just wear a proper lightweight full time full face like a TLD Stage, Proframe, etc...? I think it's pretty gimmicky, but ain't hatin' on anyone who runs one, I know a guy who loves his, he's riding more, so F it...

thanks for chiming in, aaron. it's crazy this whole ordeal turned into such chaos and wasted time. i woke up this morning to a billion texts and emails about all the drama. when the vid was posted yesterday, i didn't know it was a "leaked" video. i also chalked it up to "world cup riders are gnarly. they do gnarly things. they break stuff," and figured that the rest of the mtb community had the same reasonable way of thinking. i knew some people may comment on the crank break, but the newsworthiness of the video was that you hurt...

You can tell Aaron’s a perfectionist. He likes to be thoughtful and accurate so asking for interview questions ahead doesn’t really bug me. I’ve done the same for a newspaper article that probably nobody ever read or cared about but I kinda suck at on-the-fly questions so I asked if I could get an idea of what they were wanting to know about ahead of time. If you’ve ever transcribed a conversation between friends it sounds good to listen to but reading it is awkward with all kinds of ums and yeah mans. Long live the podcast!
