Manufacturers are doing every single thing under their power to deceive the authorities and hide electric motors in plain sight so they can just sell the living shit out of them and the forests will be covered in motorized vehicles hiding in plain sight. If they weren't trying to be shady as fokk about hiding moped motors, they'd all making them bling/bling shiny like a Pro Circuit aftermarket pipe on a motocross bike. But they're all trying to hide them. Maybe a law needs to come down the pipes that anything sold in the US as an e-bike must have...

I don't have any issues keeping the chain on (sramano set up- shimano cassette, chain ring, and chain with a GX AXS rd), but after a dozen rides I've come to the same conclusion. The lower cage flaps around like crazy. Didn't have issues with the stock XT rd, and the AXS clutch feels firm in the stand, but likes...

Make a jig that perfectly aligns your stem with with the front tire. Would be pretty easy to fabricate or you could just 3d print it. Your heart is in the right place by starting small, you will go far in the engineering world.

Agree with MX. The Straightline, Gamut, and any other chain guide that employed full coverage around the chainring (usually by way of mounting to the chain ring bolts) gave good chain drop protection. We won't see these much now that DM chainrings are the standard, but there is better alternative. The Garbaruk ring has a REALLY tall tooth profile making...

Nice one Evan. I didn't know you could weld. Josh Walters here. We used to know each other back when I lived in Santa Cruz. I've made four of my own., two hardtails and two suspension bikes. The hardtails are dirt jumper/trials bikes and the suspension ones are a slopestyle bike and a DH bike based on Santa Cruz Bullit swingarms with burly steel front ends. The slope bike is an OG Bullit swingarm with a front end as long as an XL but only as high as a small. And the DH frame uses a newer Bullit swingarm fitted...

Thanks Josh! I remember you from Post Office days...I don't trust my welding skills enough yet so I actually had John Caletti of Caletti Cycles do the tig welding for me. I did all the fabrication of parts including the jigs, and mitering all the tubes, but left the CNC work up to local machinist Dave Mather of Mather Machining. He made the lower link, upper link and idler pulleys that I designed. I had a look at all your projects in the past...Cool stuff for sure! At your height what would you say is your ideal reach and stack...

reseRved Added a reply to 2.3mm rotors on Shimano brakes?

5/7/2020 1:23pm
Coming from Ice-tech rotors, I really don't notice a difference. I think the difference between new pads and worn pads is more noticeable than the 0.3mm difference between a standard rotor and a "thick" one. I also agree with Rockchomper on bleed process. "Burping" the air from the lever gets the lever feel perfect in under 5 minutes- no need...
