It makes me feel warm and fuzzy that in 10 years of being registered on Vital this is your first post.

My advice to people: do not weigh your bikes - unless you're trying to build up a hill-climb specific bike. There have been a lot of tests and studies about bike weight, and the consensus is, it doesn't matter nearly as much as people think it does. For some reason, we all still think trail bikes should be ~28lbs, it's been that number for as long as I can remember. It was that number when I worked at shops - before we had dropper posts and tire choices beyond: folding, wire bead, or DH. When forks had 30 or 32mm...

Jeff, slow people don't need heavy tires, strong wheels, or real brakes. This, in turn, makes their bikes much lighter.

And there's the backfire. But i must admit the customer support OneUp has is top notch. Plus I'm thinking the three small bearings (or the bushing of the redesigned rebuild kit) could be replaced with a needle bearing, the dimensions fit, i'd just need to have a 1 mm spacer machined.

Was waiting for someone else to say what I was thinking. Shortest lasting part (before a needed rebuild) I’ve put on any of my bikes in 25 years...... Decided it wasn’t worth the rebuild to just have them start creaking and ticking again in a few months, so I bought another set of OneUps......

Well the Spikes were the reason i decided that i don't ever want to have bushings on my pedals again. Boy did that backfire on another product :D But i still think the elusive rolling element only bearing pedal that works is out there!

First thing i saw was 'easy to maintain'. They better be with the IGUS bushings wearing out in two or three months and the pedals getting noisy due to increased clearance int he bushing (pedal clacking around when dropping your bike to the ground which then sounds like a loose headset, suspension pivots, etc.). Sadly, the bearings in them are custom so the only thing you can do is buy an official rebuild kit. Which is somewhat expensive (for essentially two bearings) and not always easy to find in stock. Which is a bit of a problem since the only...

I think you missed the point. There’s NOTHING about this shoe that is available to the public, regardless of your opinion about the “fugly color”..... Right down to the rubber compound. Not Vital’s fault, they just reviewed what was sent....

Loss of trail access is the big ticket. The various trail user groups throughout the US are very heavily anti-MTB. Mountain biker advocacy groups across the US have fought a long hard battle to get what little access we have. As of late, the fight has been going very well, mainly due to the advocacy groups showing that we, as MTB'ers, are willing to work WITH the other trail users and pay attention to the trail restrictions and regulations. Bike companies pushing their agenda with E-bikes and purposely making them nearly indistinguishable from regular mountain bikes just makes the fight...

Seriously, you brought up Trump!? People who bring up Trump are out... Its a mountain bike website. Please leave it as such. Besides that I agree pretty much with your insurance and outs. I do like my spuds though. Cheers to a totally rad new year!

Completely agree with you guys.... I tend to get cold first (like most) at the usual 3 spots, Toes, hands, wedding tackle. I DO think there's validity to the theory that platform pedal shoes are warmer than clipless shoes.... As a follow up, went out yesterday at 11 degrees Fahrenheit for about an hour. The toes started to get a little cold. For me, I think that's the temperature limit for these shoes. Another thing I found with these shoes--- if there's snow on rocks, they are like wearing ice skates. EXTREMELY slippery!

Funny this review showed up today... been reading Vital for years, but never signed up for an account until I read this review. A pair of these that I ordered showed up today. As a lifetime clipless pedal rider and also year round rider, this year I decided to try flats for the Winter and this is the shoe I decided on. I've owned Lake MX300s and my latest shoe is the Giro Alpineduro. Today in Montana, it's 15 degrees and blue skies. I was jacked and decided to take these out for a quick shakedown ride behind the house...
