Oh, one thing that differs here from the photos i found while googling is the seat assembly (the piece holding the post) or how to say it. Here it looks like it's aluminium, while in some pics it was carbon.

USD forks NEED to be overkill to get the same stiffness. There are benefits, no doubt, but IMO that bridge over the tyre, that can only be put there on a normal MTB fork, helps heaps in terms of stiffness. The original Dorados, made around 2003, were if i recall famously flexy But thon disregard them all at once, they can be made properly. But it takes too many compromises. The BOS DH fork was considered to be an USD fork at first, but they decided against it just because of the amount of compromises needed.

Oh, ofcourse, forgot about that, yeah. The old one was 135 and 68/72, while the new one is actually 150 and 83. So no dillemah at all! Tongue

How can a 142 mm hub and wheelset be stiffer from a 150 mm one? Even if it's a proper 142 mm and not the standard 142 mm, which is just a 135 mm hub, extended by 3,5 mm on each side to sit on the frame's flanges, it would still be 8 mm narrower. Which would mean the hub's...

You can clearly see a weld in the shock hoop or right 'under the shock'. And Sven should know since he's there.
