9/18/2024 2:23pm I like the ski analogy. I feel like there was a golden age for powder skis around 2012-2014. The Bent Chetlers from that era remain one of my favorite skis ever. Since then, powder skis have walked back a bit in terms of how purpose driven they are. I think largely because it didn’t make sense to have so many skis made for conditions few were accessing. I wonder if we will see something similar with bike design where what’s considered a big bike gets a little smaller since most trails aren’t akin to bike park laps. That said, I’m...

9/15/2023 7:54am It’s no surprise that with how bad the coverage has been, tracks are “meh”, and riders seeming less interested this particular year, that teams are dissolving. The global economy and ripple effects from Covid boom have certainly played a major role as well. WCDH is heading in the same direction. Seems like UCI screwed the pooch this year with almost everything, so much that racers were stoked about the smallest things. if you’re paying for a streaming service to watch the races, I’d say now is good time to stop. A significantly low enough rating for the last rounds of...

1/13/2019 5:54am I'm pretty sure that even though people on here feel that they are psychic they actually aren't. So trying to guess what you seen and think If I've seen it is pretty impossible. So instead of the did you see what I see why not just say what you see. Then we don't have to guess your ambiguity. Or was it the Gwin riding a unicorn vid that I just watched.

11/21/2018 10:19am i think the notion that DH is mainly used for marketing purposes and to drive bike design is not controversial. I also think it is a pity whenever a bike manufacturer stops a dh program because it is not turning a profit. I seriously wonder how they factor in the value of the marketing and design leaps obtained through DH. For instance, try to imagine SC without the Syndicate. Would SC sell as many medium travel and enduro bikes today without that kind of exposure? I sincerely doubt it, though i have absolutely no data in support of that statement...

10/15/2018 7:57am What is the advantage? Being able to move with cranks I can shift my body weight where I need. Also does not feel like having my feet just on BB keeps me well balanced on bike as normally I would have one leg way far in front and one behind. And I kinda feel being able to move my pedals around the axle, I can actually stick more to bike better (better grip between shoe / pedal). Probably someone will say this is a moto style, but they have a completely different seat and weight distribution over it. Maybe i'm...

7/26/2018 11:17am Hard to accept the price tag of the Enduro brakeset vs some others on the block. The new Hayes, Hope, Magura etc. And the weight is marginally lighter when compared 4 piston to 4 piston. I'll leave out Guides as they are terrible! And it sure seems the actual piston/lever design is the same, just a band clamp redesign. We consistently have to warranty the levers from leaking plungers, no other brake fails in this manner. And the King stolen ring drive...hopefully that won't be a maintenance nite-mare like the Kings! It all looks cool thou!

7/26/2018 11:17am Its not a nite-mare for us as a shop, but when the customers do not bring them in on a regular basis for maintenance it becomes a nite-mare! The King hub, as great a company as they are, need 2-4x the love versus most others.

7/26/2018 11:17am well, I work at a shop too and have expirience with i9 dt shimano and hope and my kings are the ones who need less maintenance.. on the other hand, shimano is completly diferent, bearings need much more love than others, and I actually agree with their thoughs about bearings, its not about it..with the hub tool, kings are easy to service, and I know the tool is damn expensive, but I woulnt buy such expensive hubs if I couldnt service them right..(king bearings=bulletproof)
