5/22/2026 2:04pm Positives: Saves wear and tear on your pedal bike. DH parts are more durable and stronger, generally, since lightweighting is not a design goal. Saves your body. Makes you feel like a goddamn rockstar. Downsides: Needs a service before bike park season. Your other "big" bikes suddenly feel like they descend like shit after bike park season.

5/14/2026 10:58pm I can comment on these setups. I have posted on vital MTB a little before and felt there was a closed mindedness to this kind of a-typical stuff... That seems to be changing in MTB circles. I am not here to change any minds. I have my own opinions, coming from the moto side of things and the trends in MTB just do not feel right in terms of front wheel grip and rider / body position. I post regularly on VitalMX and have been a motocross racer for most of my life at the amateur / expert level. June...

5/13/2026 12:55pm I have a Nicolai G1 with the following geo: 510mm reach 1349mm WB 474mm chainstays 115cm handlebar off the ground 203mm front travel and 211mm rear I have been using a 20mm stem for years and also have a 10mm one which I have tested on occasion. I have recently put on the 10mm stem on backward and got a set of 90mm risers (previously was on 60mm). If you draw a straight line through the handlebar from the grips then the bars are 35mm behind the steered tube. I thought my 20mm stem and 60mm stem setup was dialed...

5/13/2026 12:32pm Well, very timely... Entire interview on the other site with Hattie, mostly regarding the bike set up. Needless to say her opinion and experience speaks volumes more than my limited experience with a demo day or even Brian's various experiments with various bikes. She said she settled on the negative 10. Wording is kinda confusing but seems like the whole...

5/13/2026 9:16am Absolutely going to feel that if you're not "buying a bike for it". So for me that was highly exaggerated. For Brian it's a bit more interesting because I believe he ran it on a proper bike (along with trying the custom mule). Along with being a much better rider, I expected him to basically utilize it more but also...

5/13/2026 7:22am I think high stack and long rear center is kinda a no brainer for DH but... I thought this post was specifically going to be about 0mm or reversed stems, which is the more confusing narrative that definitely leads to different handling characteristics but... Still can't say if its simply better or not. Living near Bronson, I got to demo...

5/7/2026 5:47pm Road racing in olympics has no radios, spicing things up like at the 2020 women´s road race. An Austrian cyclist attacked early on the race with a couple more, later on they were chased back, only to know that one girl in the chase group had attacked and gone solo! The peloton sprinted for gold, P2 Van Vleuten celebrated as Olympic champion until was told by team soigneurs that she actually was second. No line spotters can have lines like Gwin´s MSA '17 inside at the fast open section become "normal".

5/6/2026 2:15pm This argument is slightly antiquated, famously attributed to Schumacher's accident which was... Different. A probably not so quality helmet (by todays standards) with a HORRIBLY mounted camera, directly to the the shell. (Apparently with a large bolt, through the shell. Not the adhesive pads with large platforms to disperse energy like now.) Every single DH racer I see mounts the...

5/4/2026 2:38pm It wouldn't be. Those little electric pumps are not exactly light and mounting one on the rim like that would throw the balance of the wheel completely off. That balance is super important, especially at this level of racing. It's just a piece of foam to protect the valve stem from rock strikes since there was so much loose rock on the track. You could do a pump like that built into the hub, that wouldn't throw the balance of the wheel off.

5/4/2026 8:02am Again. Second place fantasy finisher has Asa and Aletha... And only a 12 rider roster. And was ONE point away from first place (who picked 16 riders and 0 winners). THAT'S the beauty of Vital Fantasy. Best possible team picked junior winners and not elite winners, BUT that's still kinda expected because picking Asa and Vali and having it be...

5/4/2026 7:47am Bringing up who has came closest brought out the spreadsheet geek in me. The closest to a perfect team had a 43 point difference with 1408 of a possible 1451 at Lake Placid in 2025. Second place goes to sideshowmel42 with a 68 point difference getting 1024 of a possible 1092 at South Korea this weekend. Third place with a 125 point difference got 1696 of a possible 1821 from the Loudenville race in 2024. I can't find who the Fantasy winners were in any year other than 2026 to give them credit.

5/3/2026 8:42pm Wouldn't it be more of a 'math game' and not luck based if there were... Less riders? With more riders you have more chances to succeed, as well as more chances to fail. Overall it increases variety. And that's made clear when first place dude had 16 riders and the dudes just below him had rosters of 12 and 11...

5/1/2026 10:59pm The V10 XL is 29" stock. Are you sure this isn't converting it to a 27.5"? The axle position suggests it's raising the rear end up to compensate for the smaller wheel.

5/1/2026 10:55pm Actually mind boggling they're still banging on about the step down? Was there ever discussion of re-opening it? How is there no one in the 'truck' saying it? Like Carlson... They keep bringing up things from Carlson on track despite him not having a hot mic.

5/1/2026 10:02pm Whoever suggested "ask the riders what to expect from them this season" needs to be canned. Quite possibly the worst and most pointless question one can conceive to ask an athlete. Literally only one answer. Provides NOTHING to anyone, the athlete, the production, the audience. In between that and the commentating (not being there?) I can't believe it's somehow gotten...
