iceman2058 Liked a comment about product review First Ride: Endura Enters the MTB Shoe Market
8/10/2022 9:43am Fair point in a way, but I still feel the differences quite clearly between different soles even on very good pedals. I also test with several pedals. Because we can do so much back to back, switching between multiple bikes equipped with different pedals, wearing different shoes from ride to ride, we get a very clear picture of the differences, and how much of that is related to the shoe/sole.

8/10/2022 9:43am They are very different shoes, those two. The Fizik Versor (and Tensor) is very light and feels that way on the foot. It has good stiffness in the sole, but the uppers are very thin which gives it a bit of an in-between feel. The Enduras are much sturdier, both in terms of stiffness of the sole and general burliness. Neither of them can quite compete with the Freerider Pro grip, but the Endura comes a little bit closer out of the two you mention. The Fizik is narrower than the Endura, since you mentioned that too.

8/10/2022 9:42am Thank you very much for your quick reply! Indeed, the lack of protection of the fizik could be a problem for me. So I'm thinking of reducing my list of possible choices to three models: A new pair of the same Freerider Pro, since I'm happy with them, the Endura, or I'll try the Specialized 2FO DH flat, since it's said in all the tests that the comfort is very high and the grip equivalent to the Five Ten...

8/9/2022 3:04pm At the moment I'm looking for the next shoes to replace my Freerider Pro. For my All mountain/Enduro use, I'm looking for something quite stiff, with a flat sole to have a good contact with my very particular pedals (Pedaling innovations Catalyst Evo) and not too wide for my rather narrow feet, so I was thinking about trying the Fizik Tensor/Vector and these Endura... Unless I go back to Freerider Pro, of course! Having tested these different models, which one would you recommend?

8/28/2019 2:53pm Regardless of age he's got to be one of the best all around cyclist in the world. This winter he also finished mid-pack (and didn't get pulled) against Van Der Poel and the rest of the elites at the Wachtebeke CX. That's remarkable for a guy in his mid 40's. Prior to that he did a few EWS rounds and pretty much crushed the rest of the masters class in Olargues and Whistler by like 2 minutes, his time after the first day in Ainsa would have been top-ten against the elites but he pulled out on day two with...

6/20/2019 3:36am Agreed, they make some great products, not questioning that at all, just that this is labelled as a prototype when it is as you said a catalog frame that is already out there in the hills under a different name.

8/14/2017 2:48pm Please, don't be that "27.5" vs 29" guy. Everybody has now understood the simple "small wheels for small guys, big wheels for big guys and beers for everyone!" thing.

One of the best things about MTB racing (XC and DH) is the lack of regulations on the bikes from the UCI. The lack of regulations is what makes MTB racing what it is, and has allowed this sport to evolve with different types of bikes, suspension used in XC races, have different wheel sizes and suspension and materials raced against each other. I don't remember any XC racers whining about 650b tubulars on a hardtail racing against 29er suspension bikes. The athlete who wins had right equipment, training and luck to take the day. Its part of racing. Whether...

I give him credit for admitting he hasn't had proper testing and that he's not ready to race the bike, but the rest came off a bit sour really. His team goes to greater lengths than most to squeeze every ounce of speed and performance out of his Demo. Custum geo, cutting braces on swingarms, custom linkages, a dedicated telemetry bike, and for some reason exploring wheel diameter as a means of going faster just isn't cool enough? Going faster = less safe, but being/feeling sketchy = okay? Fine tuning suspension with a computer for more speed/traction, fine, but faster...

I still don't understand why Wheel diameter is the thing that gets people's panties in a bunch. Loic obviously doesn't have a problem with using a telemetry system to gain an advantage but then shuns a larger wheel? No one had a problem with wider bars, larger and more powerful brakes, longer travel forks or better tire compounds, all of which have allowed riders to go faster. But suddenly a 29" wheel is crossing the line? I just don't get it. Loic lost a a fan today.

Again, looking at the qualification times, it's was super tight and nothing really out of the ordinary other than Loris having a blazer, but he was a top 10 contender all last year as was shaw. I guess we still need to see where race runs place them, but I see no advantages so far in times

The problem is if you limit the wheel size you are then giving the advantage to the smaller and lighter riders who fit the 27.5 platform better. What is next limiting everyone to flat pedals because clips give you more power, everyone has to run 165mm cranks and 780mm bars with 2.4 tires? As Danny said if it is faster for a given rider they will run it, if not they won't. The biggest challenge is to keep the integrity of the tracks so they stay proper DH tracks, that will solve everything.

Somebody else commented on DH being cycling's Group B. For those not in the know, I give you this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INwqyPct8qY -- Group B was rally's unregulated "send it" class. Cars were pushing 900 horse and weighed 2000 pounds. Crazy amazing stuff. If I remember right, the Delta S4 could push 70psi of boost if needed? Yes, 70. I also don't know how many times I can point it out - EWS racers are allowed to run anything and there is still no consensus what is faster. Why is everyone so positive 29" is going to always be faster in DH...

Minnaar on the V10 29er looks exactly like Hart on his 27.5" Summum, nothing more nothing less.
