At least the Shimano mechanism is consistent and reliable. I’ve generally had good luck with most OneUp products, but even after trying the fix kit they sent for these brand-new pedals, the unclipping mechanism still feels inconsistent. I also doubt the pedals are truly “out of stock.” My guess is they pulled them from shelves because of the known issues and are working on another update. They never should have released the pedals in their current state.

For some reason they still have the pins/platforms on two different levels though, something which I already hate with the Saint pedal as well. I am currently using the oneup pedals, super happy with them - Want to put them on a new build but they are out of stock eternally.

Heavy lever pull is bad. Heavy lever pull as a consequence of a progressive leverage ratio that gives a lot of pad retract AND a lot of power is a good thing. You can't have everything... As for variable leverage ratio (lever feel), Lewis actually does this...

I think people believe that certain frame designs like horst link or split pivot have no influence from the brake on the suspension, so a floating brake wouldn't do anything. The marketing from some of those frames kind of gave that impression. Really they (floating brakes) can alter the braking characteristic of almost any bike in either direction as well (more or less anti rise)

Manufacturer wise it should make sense as they buy the gear and "make" the frame so the margins should be higher. Problem is most of the brands also buy the frames 😂
