12/29/2025 10:19am 100% agree on DOT supremacy, widely available wherever you are regardless if you have a bike shop around or not, i keep one type (Motul DOT5.1) of DOT fluid for all brakes i service, Sram, Hayes, Hope w/e. Super easy cleanup. All other vehicles use DOT fluid brake systems (for a reason), why do bikes have to be different?

12/29/2025 10:18am You can get the correct DOT fluid in any automotive shop. For any DOT compatible brake. Good luck with that with mineral oil brakes. You have different oils WITHIN the same manufacturer (Shimano), let alone between manufacturers. I know I'm beating a dead horse at this point and derailling the thread at the same time, but sorry, I see ZERO benefits from using mineral oil vs. DOT fluid in brakes... If anything, also reading people's experiences about it, it's more complicated than anything, cleaning it up is a pain compared to DOT and the aforementioned issue of finding the correct...

5/31/2025 8:05am Thanks for starting the thread Jeff. I was wondering exactly which white teflon grease noideamtber uses. I need some. I've tried a few products without finding the desired results. I'm always doing everything I can to quiet things down. I have my Zerode G3 running silent. The biggest challenge was the Dorado lower guard vibrating against the upper tube because of the brake hose and the brake hose itself. For the guard, I added velcro to the upper tube for the full length of travel. For the brake hose I cut a a large washable straw that was pretty thick...

4/23/2025 8:56pm I wish the Presta valve would hurry up and die industry-wide for MTB and everyone used something better as the standard. Not $50 Presta-shaped wonder-valves as the placeholder fix of the day. Maybe I should start drilling my rims for Schrader. Doesn't seem like it causes problems. Just very scary to take the drill to fancy-brand carbon hoops.
