It's a damn shame that Purgatory did away with everything DH related. I'm from Durango I was born here in 1998. It is both awesome and frustrating to see the super rad DH course I've been laying ski tracks over since I was five. As an aspiring pro racer I can only imagine how different my summers would be if I had a lift accessed WC course 25 minutes from my house. Hopefully in the future there will be DH races there as well as a bike Park! I assure you it would see tons of use since Durango is...

jerryhazard Added a comment about feature Vital Soapbox - Mountain Biking and the Mainstream

First, NOT going to complain about word count. Nice to read some thought out, articulate expression instead of a 250 word caption. Thank you. As for wants - better bikes for less money? How about maybe just the same bikes for less money? Bikes are pretty fancy nowadays, and besides wheel size and carbon, not changing a whole lot. I don't want more, I just want normal at a reasonable price. More trails would be nice, but there's many caveats in there... More races? No. Enduro and Urban DH has about sewn that up. RedBull is taking care of the...

I have to say this guy elevated Mavic's 24 and 20 spoke wheels from looking terrifying for any sort of aggressive riding to looking legitimate. P

The NORBA series used to be as important as the World Cups. It's about time it came back to where it needs to be. With that said, neither the UCI and our current national cycling federation have really proven themselves of late. I hope all goes well for everybody, especially the riders.

by Monica McCosh With the Khyber kneepads, a relative of the already successful Khyber clothing kit, Race Face is the only company we know of to offer pad protection specifically for women. First introduced in 2014, Monica McCosh recently tested the only sample of the 2015 Khyber kneepad prototype. Read on to see how it treated her and vice versa. jerryhazard Added a comment about product review Khyber Knee Guard (2015)

Nice review. I'd just like to say that the same size issue may exist in the men's version of these pads. My 661 Kyle Strait pads, and other 661 pads were always size large. However, the size large RaceFace pads were are just a bit ... snug. I can still wear them as they articulate so well once I have them on. But I IF I ever buy them again (which is likely, I love these pads), I will go for the XL size.

Valid points, no doubt. The "Problem" is not with Vital's idea; the voters skewed the test in the wrong direction. Had Vital just chose the more reasonable components for the lowest $$$ amount, I'm sure the price wold be much more reasonable. A product manager wouldn't spec a budget bike like this either (The Kona, and Airborne Toxin are great examples). Not Vital's "fault" - the trendy Voters jacked the price up....

That's what's really confusing about the article. I wouldn't call a $4400 build a "budget" or "value" build. That's out of reach of many people. I realize the people voted, and picked the components, and in most cases picked reasonably, but as a complete build cost total, it really isn't "value" at all, at least what I was expecting when Vital first announced the project build. I guess "value" has a different definition to different folks. But it also highlights the escalating costs of bikes vs what most people can afford.

That's true, but also brings into question whether this is really a budget build. Not sure I know anybody who's looking to build a DH bike on a budget, yet can drop $4400, but wouldn't buy one of the many complete DH bikes available for that number or less. Even if you can spend that amount of money, you'll still be better off buying a complete bike & replacing the components that don't satisfy you. Heck, if you buy that Precept, sell the fork, you'd be able to essentially have your pick of any DH fork on the market and...

I have them on two different bikes. Lost my first pin a few days ago, and I ride in some rocky terrain. The nylon is no more slick than aluminum when wet. Mine are scuffed up pretty good, but holding together and still solid. Plus, you can replacement pedal bodies from Deity for cheap.

Just got a used enduro s-works. Beat it up a bit on a local rouge trail. Love it. Needs a coil shock though.

If they put ANY imagination in to marketing it, 26 would sell just fine. So funny (and ironic) how they push all that technical crap about wheel size (any wheel size)... yet despite all the benefits, a 26er still comes out on top (well, at least this time, haha).
