On Gee's contract, you have to assume it is at least partially based on content and visibility. He is one of the most recognizable names/faces in DH and constantly puts out crazy edits and events in addition to racing. That is just as or more valuable to RB than a few good races. So its likely a mix of both...

He was a reasonably well known name when he went to the WC due to his videos and riding with big names folks in BC. Contract renewal or a a move for Evan? There's space for him on the Orbea team with Oton retiring, but they may have another big name lined up, and they're sponsoring the academy again this season so they may need a slot for that.

You'd hope that it would be a renewal. Expecting someone to come on and make any better of an impression than he did as a first year rider is almost impossible. For him to roll in and get a top 15 and at least one other top 30 on a shortened season like his is better than they could have...

It adds up. My S5 Evo was under 30#s at one point. Now it's approaching 33#s and it's pretty WW. Inserts, better seat, longer dropper, coil shock, Cascade link which while the same weight as the stock unit requires a much heavier shock spring, it all conspired against me!

Can someone explain how a bike like that, with these parts came in at over 34lb? Thats a top end build all across the board and the Stumpy is already on the lighter end for that kind of bike....so confused.

Ah gotcha, then yeah I am not sure. I know several folks that are running their own race programs or UCI race "teams" but aren't listed so I am not sure if thats still the case with Brayton or if its something else. Like you said though, even tho he was on Hope, he was essentially his own privateer program...

He's probably kinda doing his own thing. Doesn't seem to include a lot of those smaller "teams" or private run programs. Same goes for the XC side of stuff where there are WC racers missing but its the ones that just run their own thing.

Jackson Goldstone on Miranda!!?? That seemingly came out of no where. I would probably guess they picked up Trek as a bike sponsor then? They were on Scott last year I believe.

Ummm, not to be a jerk here, but Thirion has no real leverage to pick a better team, so not sure why you think that. Might want to look at his results and which way they are trending. He's a very course specific rider (an absolute genius on that style course) but he's not a threat for the overall. Never has been. Also, per their usual effort, Giant didn't go after an overall threat unless Jacob Dickson catches fire. They constantly are a step below winning a title outright in any discipline. Makes me think of pro football & basketball...

Of course I do not know any facts but his tone is just inappropriate. The same with Silva who recently posted a meme on instagram complaining about the bike industry pushing their money to youtubers instead of "shredders". The kid has mad skills but do these guys really not get that they are paid by the brand to promote the brand and not just to have a good time?
