the racing drone stuff is so cool to see. seems like it has the potential to cut out 1 or 2 permanent camera locations, too. bring cost down a bit?

So you're saying that if you post relatively unpopular content, you'll get fewer likes and interactions? Shocker. It doesn't matter if it's "political" -- for example, I got into gravel in the last year and started posting more gravel content. Then my average post likes started going down...because my audience isn't as into gravel as I am. That's not some nefarious plot by Instagram, like Gwin was implying. "Big tech" may be left-leaning, but the most popular, highest-performing Facebook posts are consistently right...

Gwin has incredible talent, drive, and a serious work ethic. I still remember watching him ride and race in-person in late '00s and early '10s, and being absolutely blown away by what I was seeing. I hope he returns to the top of the sport, and I'll be cheering for him every run. But, the whole part where he was insinuating that Instagram was suppressing his reach because of his beliefs was pretty laughable. C'mon bruh.

Jeff, with all due respect, do you really find the word "laughable" to be offensive? Do you ever laugh? Do you understand the difference between laughing at someone and laughing at something? I gotta go ride, so this is the last thing I'll say... I think people sometimes jump to the conclusion that big tech is suppressing or censoring certain voices, when it's more likely those voices/opinions are just not all that popular.

I always felt the Vital slideshow for the EWS races was by far the best coverage of the event and one of the best features on Vitalmtb. I have been checking feverishly for the slideshow to come up and am saddened to learn it won't be... Is "traction" a euphemism for "page views"?

6/29/2021 3:49pm That's a bummer as EWS seem to have given up on the live updates too. Best part of the slideshow is getting all the little stories from the event. I don't use Instagram, so I guess that's that. Thanks for making me feel old vital!

6/29/2021 3:02am Only news from Amaury is that it is looking like ribs and liver damage. All these updates for Pierron are pretty much hearsay on various sites, there is no official word so far. Gutted, now I understand why the top pros don't bother with smaller national races...

Unless I'm missing something has this now stopped for the EWS? I haven't seen anything from Rd1/Rd2 yet Hopefully it's still a thing as it's not the same when the other sites do their "raw" edits!

6/28/2021 1:27am Pretty horrible news from a french national round, Daprela and Amaury P. airlifted out after crashing on the same spot over 2 days. Daprela broke his helmet and suffered facial injuries, hoping both of them are doing ok and back on track soon.

Second jump is a "step up" landing on off camber grass, at the speeds they are going to going I can wait to see the sends! And predict some huge crashes from bomb holes.

6/23/2021 1:16am Even if the purses were much bigger, only a handful of riders would actually be winning them, that doesn't help the sport in any way, we need more of the top 40 getting a basic salary and travel costs and insurance paid. Races that are not UCI WC or EWS need to attract big names to their events to boost...

Yes and no, they may have only increased the prices 10% or less, but that is MSRP. Up until this year bikes could easily be bought for 5-20% under MSRP, and parts up to 50% off online. Now that that is over, the price hikes are much higher for most consumers than 7%. Examples: I bought SRAM GX derailleur and cassette last year for 80 and 90 respectively, just changed them for a heartbreaking 130 and 140. Bought a tyre for €28 weeks ago, it is now out of stock and online retailers are asking for €40 when it comes...
