This is a question that we get a lot these days considering the mass offerings of coil spring conversions available on the market. What we would say is that for a rear shock, the coil is a really great option. Rear air shocks require tight seals to be able to handle the air pressure, especially at full compression. This in turn creates at lot of extra friction on the entire system. With the coil spring, it alleviates a ton of friction, and gives you un-matched suppleness and mid-stroke support. The limitation of the coil spring has always been being able...

I have this conversation with a lot of customers. In the PNW, these are 2nd/3rd/etc bikes. If you want one rig for everything, most of these brands offer a 140mm 29er, which seems to be the sweet spot. Unfortunately, the 140mm completes typically come with a spec that is burlier/heavier, almost the same as their 160mm counterparts. What I've been doing lately is custom building the 140mm platform with a build kit that is closer to the 120mm builds. Pike, 27mm rims, 2.3 or 2.4 EXO tires, etc. Keep the weight under 30lbs but have enough travel to back up...

Great interview. As a dork, this was probably my favorite to date. So much I want to follow up with here. Have to wait until round 2?

Common sense would have been for him to either go to the hospital and get the approved treatment, or to at least apply for a TUE right away. Instead he showed up at both the two first races testing positive for a masking agent. Why didn't he apply for a TUE right away? Was it because he forgot? Was it...

If Martin Maes would have got to keep his wins and not get punished he would have been the one with a big "*" above his name. Like it or not, taking that substance made him able to take other more potent banned substances without it showing in testing. I don't think he did, but that's not really important. If...

Thanks! I have a first gen Scout my self and I'm having a tough time deciding whether or not to go for something that's a bit more capable in the ruff when the speed picks up with a bit more pedalfriendly linkage . I was secretly hoping that the new SBG scout would be both a bit more capable and more alert when stomping the pedals I'm going to try a bit of shock tuning see where that takes me, all in all I really like my little scout

Still no news on Isabeau, read an interview with her from January where she said she had signed with a team and it would be made public soon. Which EWS teams are left to announce their team?

I never claimed they were the ONLY brand to break the rules. But when you look at all the different aspects of their business and the choices they made, it adds up to a brand that does things their own way, that's all. Once again, there are other brands who do as well.

ACC just posted on instagram about her new bike being "awesome". And in the pic you could not see much else besides the handlebar... Commencal maybe?

Manitou has it figured out, their IRT is just the thing. But since the Mattoc is 34mm I doubt it vill fit a pike very well, maybe it could be made to fit a Fox 34. Their setup guide has some nice graphs showing the difference in spring curve when using tokens (Manitou calls this IVA) vs using a second air chamber (IRT). https://www.manitoumtb.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/IRT-Details.pdf
