10/16/2023 9:35pm I just went back and watched all three runs again (twice) - I think you can definitely say that Zink used the entire mountain the best and that usually gets rewarded. I still enjoyed Beinve and Brendog's runs wayyyyy more. All those dudes are sick nasty. I love Rampage.

10/16/2023 9:34pm To say that he did the "same run" as in 2013 is not only disingenuous but factually incorrect. The 2013 run was all about that ONE big move, the rest of the course was just him cruising. Today's run had a steep and exposed drop up top, a backflip one-foot can also up top (where in 2013 he just rolled over the same feature, basically), a very big step-down to a very difficult step-up (those did not exist in 2013), a dirt take off from further back than the Oakley sender (made from wood) was in 2013, and then he...

10/16/2023 9:31pm Congrats zink, that result was well deserved. Gnarly top section followed by probably top 3 biggest step down flips in history and a stomped 3 drop.

10/16/2023 9:31pm In my opinion Zink’s run is the winner, by far. the difference with other runs on the podium is that it’s « a run ». There’s no pause at all in it, when he starts it’s full commitment, top to bottom. And what a backflip. in my opinion again, brendog second, not close, but well above the others. Bienve maybe not on the podium, but clother to it and fully deserve people choice, spirit, and best trick for sur.

10/16/2023 9:31pm I agree Brendog was underscored given the exposure, risk, and uniqueness of his line. As far as Zink goes, I don’t think people understand how big and consequential that flip was, check out the photo Paris Gore took of it if you want to see the scale. Just because he’s done big flips before doesn’t negate how insane that was, and he’s not competing against his old Rampage runs. Yea the front flip was nuts but Cams entire line was much more steep and technical and there’s not much to debate there, and it was rewarded accordingly.

10/16/2023 9:30pm They gave him that many points so they could fit at least one or two runs between him and van Steenbergen. It's the order that counts, don't obsess about the individual score. I think they even said so in the commentary and it makes sense.

I have a 2014 Canyon myself. Back then, they used a Syntace X-12 through axle and a Cane Creek headset and headset cover. All quality stuff that is easily replaced even years after the frame is discontinued. I don't doubt their headset system works but this is just proprietary for the sake of being proprietary. I don't even think it looks better.

1/19/2019 12:32pm I’m a bit surprised the X-Fusion Manic wasn’t included in this comparison. It’s a top performer at a bargain price, with best-in-class reliability. It even has a couple of user reviews on this site (one of which was written by me). Also, what’s the discontinued, problem-plagued Race Face Turbine post doing here?!

1/19/2019 12:31pm My 1st generation RF had issues with the saddle screws grinding into the post head. But it worked reasonably well for about a year... Until it started leaking air so badly I had to refill. The air spring every few days. When I serviced it I noticed there was no grease in the top cap. It was bone dry including the foam ring and I am pretty sure there never had been any grease in there at all. So apparently an assembly error. The complete lack of lubrication had resulted in the x-ring being worn out by now... And while...

1/11/2019 11:57am This is the best bike test I've read in over a year, mostly because it is for DH bikes. More DH Bikes please. Also, a third testbrider would be good, especially when combining the segment times to get a clearer picture. Two people is just not quite enough to really solidify a trend in how a bike handles. I also offer myself as the third test rider.

1/11/2019 11:55am Vital! Another rad review! Love the thoroughness to these. Pumped that you chose to throw on the same tires this time around. I have a good feeling of how much work it takes to do these, but it would be rad to see these more often! I know it's probably unlikely to have an intermediate / novice rider have similar consistency in results, but would love to know what their times / thoughts on each bike. Also, wouldn't mind to see the next review be some aggressive, 110-130 (trail?) travel 29ers.

1/9/2019 10:44am Didn't know that even though I've been "following" both for the last year. I thought it might make sense, YT just lost two riders, two Athertons need a new team... I like my math easy.

1/8/2019 11:04pm Uhm...that´s a 300€ price increase on the Tues AL for nothing?! WTF YT? There´s literally no difference between AL and AL Base, just choose between crappy RS or crappy Fox suspension, but Kudos to YT and Fox for establishing the 40 Elite and X2 Elite as high end suspension
