12/16/2022 10:57am Buried in the lede is the end of collegiate racing as we have always known it(Independent volunteer conference boards), all of this, of course was announced without consulting any of the conferences, in the classic top-down-tone-deaf-fly-your-private-custom-painted-helicopter over CX worlds style that we are coming to expect from the clout hungry billionaire boys club that is now USAC. It is already mandatory for any brand that wants to sell through Walmart you must open an office in NW Ark, and now we are also forcing young athletes to go there and kiss the ring, too? Benton County(like the coal mine owner...

12/16/2022 10:56am "USA Cycling brought to you by Wal-Mart" has such a nice ring to it. There's never been a cheaper date than whoever is leading USA Cycling at any given time.

8/9/2022 10:04am To add to the moaning from an amateur competitor perspective: €200 to do the ews100 or ews50 i.e. amateur race (more or less just a timed organised ride...) is very steep. Way too much faffing about with stages being open at specific times for training, (just let us head off at a certain time in the morning) Pro riders getting shuttled everywhere at an E-Bike specific race
The courses, the riders and riding is sick. But I much prefer the more laid back local races. From an online spectator point of view: the lack of vital slideshows with the...

8/9/2022 10:06am Agreed: "From an online spectator point of view: the lack of vital slideshows with the daily interviews and stories robs the race of any narrative. I still think this was the best format to follow the event." It feels like EWS/UCI coverage has dwindled since pre-covid when they did do a good job of really setting up the narrative around...

8/4/2022 5:42pm So the Jade was a 230x60 that I had on my previous bike, Capra. There was a plastic 2.5mm spacer installed on the shaft below the bottom out bumper that I cut out when it was on that bike during service (since you could run the Capra 29 with more travel), so I estimate the stroke on the Jade to now be 62.5. I've compressed the suspension in the stand during service without the spring and it's got a couple mm to spare, granted need to account for bottom out bumper too. I haven't noticed any tire rub yet or...

8/4/2022 10:20am So far no complaints, I'd buy again. The price is right, shipping was quick, I weighed them and they were pretty much spot on as advertised. They mounted easily, including the rear w/ cushcore. I've been running the Rugged All-Around (working man's assegai) for a couple weeks now (probably ~100mi on it) and it's wearing nicely, just now starting to show signs of wear on the side knobs. We've had a fairly wet summer so it's not been seeing too much of the usual dry, rocky conditions that can wear it more quickly. I just put the rear Versatile Reinforced...

8/4/2022 8:42am I'll often wear an REI butt bag for longer rides where I want more water, and it's got dual bottle baskets, but like you I usually just put a spare bottle in the left one and primarily reach for that while pedaling. I like the right one as just a "junk" pocket (glasses and gloves for the climb, candy wrapper, etc.) I have actually considered a Spec Zee cage w/ the tool, just so I have something on me. I'm fortunate to be able to have some decent ride options right from the house so I can usually get away...

8/4/2022 7:25am It's not an issue for me. 99% of the time I'm not drinking while pedaling and if I do go for a drink it's not somewhere I might need to brake like climbing a road or similar. I've never really thought about it though, now that you point it out maybe I should check out a different bottle cage, hmmm.
