I do like the practice and the pre-race footage. The problem imo, is that none of it builds up to the actual race, which is a snoozefest until the last 2 riders come down.

If two people can comfortable hit it and it comes with a huge time advantage it gets to the point that the entire field has to take massive risks to be competitive. The Jr's are just that, Jr's. They are not professionals and outside of a very select few I bet most are not getting a paycheck. Closing one feature will have zero effect on the racing for the weekend...... Having to chopper a rider or two off the course during practice will have a big effect on everyones race weekend.

The problem with other ways to get race experience for US juniors is there are no tracks as steep and technical as in Europe. So for a US junior it would take a ton of money and time to get to Europe and learn the steepness and the technicality where the European Jrs live there and have easy access. I know for myself, if my son had not been on a factory team as a junior, the transition to elite would have been very difficult without near the success.
