CascadeComponents Added a reply to High vs Low Anti Rise Bikes

Don't know the number for the Revolt, but being a linkage driven single pivot with the pivot being none-too-low it's almost certainly on the higher end of the spectrum. If I had to guess, maybe 110% at top of travel and 80ish% at bottom of travel.

My ideal range would be something starting around 100-120% and dropping to somewhere around 0 by bottom of travel. Hard to put a number on it since such a wide range can really work, but I definitely don't mind over 100% around top of travel as long as that drops off to at or below 100% by sag.

My two cents on anti-rise... First and foremost, it depends on the trails you are riding. There isn't a universal value that's best on everything. Low angle trails, especially one's where you're trailing the brakes to maintain speed, favor low anti-rise. On the other hand, steep trails and/or trails where you're hard on the brakes favor higher anti-rise. Sure low...
There is only one link down by the BB so it's a flexure. In my mind there are two distinct approaches to flex that we see. There's the method where there's one particular point (realistically a short section) on either the chain stay or seat stay that is designed to provide pretty much all the flex or there's the method...

The nighttain has a 20T for the larger of the jackshaft rings, not sure about the smaller, and a 27T chainring. A chain link rotates 11.25 degrees (22.5 total) going onto and off a 16T idler and 9 degrees going onto a 20T ring. Add in the fact that there are two rings on the jackshaft and that's at least...
And then next thing you know there’ll be position sensitive damping and I’ll be sitting here wondering why so much complexity has been added all to solve something easily doable with a linkage. Springs in series result in a crazy low initial spring rate unless you’ve got at least one very stiff spring in there. Half of what they help...
Without looking at any numbers for it, I'd assume the link primarily gets used to control leverage curve and the dog bone primarily gets used to correct geo. You may very well have combos where the alterations to the link would produce undesirable geo on their own so a dog bone has to be used with it to get the...
I wish it was something that made sense to do. The reality is there aren't that many DH bikes out there. To be able to distribute the development costs enough to have a reasonably priced product we'd need pretty much everyone who owns a new Demo to buy something. It would be a fun project no doubt though.

Yeah on a more supportive bike it's not happening. The amount of time I spend around 70% on the SJ15 in all it's linearity with the Genie is wild though.
Can you make aftermarket cable routing too?

Does anyone who's done this 29 link and 27.5 shock mounts have a BB height they can share? It has been a long time since I've looked at the Sight and don't have it in front of me to double check anything. By the dimensions I have, it would be an increase in travel, progression, and BB height.

Double checked my real-life measurements on drawing below - after scaling it using the bearing dimensions - and they correlate pretty closely. Part No.8 is the RH lower shock mount.

Entire force under the curve is the drop to flat type scenario. For square edge hits you can still look at area under the curve, though. It just starts from whatever the initial position of the shock is instead of zero. If you were to say you’re cruising along and then slam into a really big bump that’s big enough...

Here goes the results from sticking an image in to Linkage, so there is potential for some error but is close to what I've seen elsewhere and shows 26% progression, but most of that is early on as Cascade predicted

It depends on the shape of the spring curve for the air spring. The curve has a vague S shape to it. Initially it will be stiffer than a coil, then softer, and then stiffer towards end of travel (or not in some cases). A small volume air shock can have an insane amount of ramp to offset that mid-stroke...

Don’t have the dimensions for the V4 offering so not able to plug that in. I’d imagine it’s like the previous ones where the majority of the progression happens earlier in travel though.

HBO can exert anywhere between way less and way more force than a rubber bumper since it’s dependent on the speed of compression. And then, like you said, it doesn’t increase rebound speed compared to a rubber bumper. The one argument you could maybe make for rubber bumpers is that there are some scenarios, like a long sweeping berm, where...
