I really wish mountain biking had some sort of "draft day" where all this shit is unveiled at once. The slow trickle of news is making for a really anti-climatic feeling to all this.

Its pretty clear you have not actually ridden an ebike JCL, so your comments are as usual for such fairly incorrect. If you use the mode that makes you Nino, your ride will be pretty short. I actually found it usually adds very little to distance, but is a more consistent workout due to man handling the bike more due to weight of bike, and fact your overall pace is higher meaning you must stay in it and not daydream even on the climbs. I've been mountain biking for quite awhile now (1988). I've owned many different bikes over the years, DH, Freeride, Enduro, trai, etc. I recently bought an Ebike and I will never go back to a mechanical/traditional mtb. I've found climbing to actually be creative and FUN now!-having the ability to pop off of everything on the way up is amazing. Other than occasionally enjoying a random, easy-ish climb when your mind wanders and blends with the meandering undulations of the climb, Climbing SUCKS! (for me at least) Ebikes have turned this SUCKS into FUN!. Additionally, I've found descending, jumping etc...

People that ride these bikes like to ride. I bet many people that ride ebikes could crush you on an acoustic antique bike. Variety is good. I own an ebike, gravel bike and acoustic hardtail.

In the USA lawsuits are a fact of life, so there will always be someone or some group suing for something. Just because some cowboys are suing the USFS about 132 miles of trails doesn't mean the sky is falling and trail access allover the USA is going to be revoked. At the end of the day trail access should be for all of us to enjoy; horse, hikers, MTB and eMTB, no one group has the right to limit other groups. We live in the USA, freedom of choice!

Disagree with the stance of this article from an opinion basis, but there is also numerous incorrect pieces of info, I also do not appreciate Vital's choice of image for the lead (Racer guy hammering, and some dude bobbling on a roach emtb with no helmet, no proper attire, etc....that misleads the reader that all people on an eMTB are this guy). I am 78 this year and after 13 surgeries from a climbing incident now have a blue permanent hang tag for the rear view mirror. I can still do almost everything I formerly did but am restricted to the length of time and distance and exertion it takes to do it. I have been avid at MTB since Gary Fisher days. I've ridden both and I have no issues with e-bikes getting more people out or allowing people to ride longer. I took my Dad on a pretty serious ride for the first time in years and we BOTH had fun- thanks to an e-mtb for him. Bikes are bikes- and honestly, I think a lot of the hate is blown out of proportion.

Ran into some of the original mountain bikers in Marin County one day and they were on ebikes. Pulling wheelies and having a good old time. Great to see that getting old doesn’t mean you have to stop doing what you love.

just to be clear - trek doesn't advertise on vital. they haven't for a couple years, so vital isn't "getting rich" off of this video. i was stoked to see cam's dad riding and thought the story was rad, so i posted it. plus cam's dad doing the feeble on the bridge was all-time. that was my motive. i texted cam and he confirmed that he and ty bought the bike from trek with their own money (a b-stock blem bike, so not full retail, but not even close to free) and cam paid the filmers to make this vid...
