There was a run of sram xx brakes in about 2010 with the super light lever bodies that were known to occasionally shatter when tightening. They had a composite filament kind of structure, and were so expensive they weren’t common. I recall having a major discussion with the sram team rep when two did it on a weekend before a...

add me to the list again, I always thought I had just a noisy EP8 motor. turns out it was my fidlock bottle just rattling this whole time after replacing it with a traditional bottle cage. 4 years it took me to figure this out lol what a dumbass.

Intend is working on something like that, there’s a small Italian brand probably only sells through Facebook, Billet, he does those, Serafino Billet, He also makes alloy magnetic pistons for most brakes as a replacement

One complaint I have that applies to so many manufacturers is about rotors. Surely, it is possible to design floating rotors with replaceable brake tracks? The waste and cost of throwing out really nice, expensive carriers when a brake track wears really annoys me. I get the critical nature of the rotor / carrier connection, but that’s solveable, surely? Surely...

The new Hope Evo brakes also use the same size threading as Sram Mineral Oil brakes. So you could order a Hope bleed cup and the Evo adapter if you wanted to bleed Mavens with it. I know because I did the opposite and used a new Sram mineral oil syringe as an improvised bleed cup for my GR4’s.

Just spent 10 minutes reading about freehub preferences… Not sure if I can explain to a regular person how much entertainment value this holds for me🍿

As the ring can rotate forward with the narrow wide chain meshed to the ring, the forces are dealt with by that spider rotation rather than the chain moving in an undamped fashion. When the spider moves it takes the chain with it, so rather than losing tension you can think about it as if the drivetrain is rotating freely...

I would agree with this. If they have excessive drag its likely the green plastic seal that seals the freehub to the hub body. They can be super annoying to install. Or there should be a washer/spacer that spaces the freehub off the bearing inside the hub body. I had a pro4 that had excessive drag and I had forgot to put that spacer in when I changed freehubs.

Hey @PUSH Industries, a question and some thoughts after owning a nine one for a while. I did a 50h service today (what a great process) and noticed how discoloured the suspension fluid was, and that it was much less than the 25mm I put back. Is it fair to say one characteristic of the fluid bearing you’re using is...

I've had to use the dremel to get 104 BCD rings to fit on my Ochain. There's a very short official list of chainrings that fit Ochain and a much longer list of chainrings you can bodge on there with a dremel. I say if it looks like it will fit after a quick dremel touch up, it probably will. Go for it.

I use wolftooth 32t chainrings on my ochain equipped bikes... no grinding and no issues. In my experience, most aluminum chainring wear about the same amount more or less... so it doesn't matter to me which brand as long as the chain retention is acceptable.

I nearly hit ‘too stiff’ until I considered the cumulative effect . I’ve had a few bikes that would be considered too flexy, but weirdly, the cumulative effect of too much flex gives character - sometimes it’s slower, but comfort and feel are more enjoyable than cumulatively too stiff set ups where they lose feel/character and become unforgiving in myriad...
