I understand the saying “if it ain’t broke, why fix it” but do you reckon we will see a new Giant Glory ?
The latest one doesn’t even take a boxxer fork which I feel stopped a lot of grass roots racers from buying one when it’s all you used to see around local races.

A high pivot version maybe ? Alloy version that they could prototype quickly

Maybe a new rider on the roster also a female or a new junior that’s coming up to elites ?

Why doesn't it take the new Boxxer?

According to Giant's website it doesn't take 2023 or earlier Boxxers, but it doesn't explain why and I don't know enough about them to speculate on the details.

This is the frame that has had ongoing issues with damage around the head tube from fork impacts (example), so it could be related.  Looks to be incompatible with dual crown forks outright if you ask me.

Martin was Orbea, way before FMD teamed up with them.

there was a story on IG about a FMD rider forced to ride with a cracked frame for lake placid/whistler. Might be related

Got a screenshot of this? Saw a couple of pages making a joke about it but wonder who posted it originally

No, but with time you can see that 99% of what they post (UCI gary and NPC) is real information posted as a joke.

Oli zwars frame detonated in Whistler. I've seen other pics of snapped rallons. The meme accounts seemed to allude to a manager being shouty and the frames being snappy

I'd be kind of shocked if that was the case. She and Cube posted this yesterday.

I think “shout” is Tony’s only volume.

But if Cube is one of the teams that folds for next season then maybe so? However, judging by the photo I wonder if she’s got a Red Bull edit coming out soon? Would be cool for someone to do an edit with all these young female rippers that can steeze it out on the jumps.

The entire thing feels staged.

Don't get me wrong: I think Aletha is going to be a serious competitor at the Elite level next season. She's got a great personality and is articulate and incredibly mature for her age. But her success this season on the World Cup circuit is, in all likelihood, due in part to the absence for most of the season of Rosa Zierl. Last year they each won 4 World Cups and Rosa won the World Championship and the overall in World Cup. I have no idea if Rosa has a Red Bull helmet or a Monster helmet or some other soft drink's helmet, nor do I care.

Rosa got her RB helmet from Vali earlier in the season. Although they may not have proved themselves on the Elite stage yet, I’m sure the approach by the energy drink companies is to recognize the potential and start supporting them early in their careers to improve the likelihood they become a champion for them.

I had previously heard they submit an application, terms are negotiated through interviews and meetings, but the contract is not official until the helmet gets delivered. But I have no idea if what I heard was correct. Perhaps @BGoldstone has a more accurate understanding than most of us.

Yeah I have no idea other than the contract is done and the helmet is a surprise later. If you took the helmet without the contract then you just gave away your bargaining power.

So Neko covers this in the Lake Placid Downtime podcast based on his experience with Asa. Sounds like the deal is negotiated, Red Bull keeps an eye on them, and when they feel the time is right they will offer them the helmet when they feel they are ready. So it does sound like there might be a clause in the contract that the helmet handover is the official start date of the contract that has already been negotiated. He also clarified that it is genuinely a surprise when they get the helmet. Aletha was pissed walking into the shot because Gabe told her she had another WB interview to do.

Would not be surprised if the contractual process is different for Red Bull US v Red Bull Canada v Red Bull Austria, etc.

Decathlon team is expanding and looks to have a new 32" XC race bike. They have picked up some of the Cannondale team. Wonder where Aldridge is going?

On the latest Downtime Pod, Olly Morris explains that they have bought the team and rider registration deadline forward (for the 2027 season), to the 15th November, instead of January. Wonder if we will get rider confirmations early?

He’s been on a Decoy X in all his recent videos. I’m more interested in the phrase “mobbin” here.

Would explain why the Decathlon team announced today, which feels very early post season.

They made that change to mid November last season. I think a lot of announcements still came in Jan though.

Any info on where Bodi Burke will end up? I hope he has something lined up on a team that can coach. Dude has raw speed.

Road teams announce transfers from 1st August, as per UCI regs. No reason MTB teams can't do the same - waiting until New Year is lame, and backward. Road teams have the same contract obligations, but still announce news early. Why the MTB world can't is bizarre.

If Maes sticks around, could be a good fit. Ha’s probably make a great mentor if he’s keen for that kind of role.

Surprised if teams will still stick with older riders when the field is stacked with so many good young riders… there seems to be this shift where riders that moved up from junior last year no longer have to work their way up through the field and build off season after season.

Young ones would more likely take a team ride and demand less than a seasoned pro.

There is a lot of talent out there…… and there is a lot of big teams trying to get there bikes on the top step with riders that just aren’t preforming.

Ya agreed, but the younger racers need to be careful not to get involved (unknowingly) in a race to the bottom. Fighting for minimum pay for the maximum chance of getting a ride
