eat your heart out! lawlor is there today doing some slowmo too. should be good
Actually made my jaw drop. I remember a few years ago, when Max was fairly unknown, he had a super sick scrub and Loudenvielle. Wish they had one of those super slowmo cameras there, would be sick to see at a billion fps.
there never needs to be another MTB scrub done ever again. HOLY CRAP!
dude his bar is like 4" from the rock. Also I know hes hauling, but to commit to that scrub, that early is so gnarly. Its like 2 bike lengths before the take off. HHHNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
It's weird. That printed list had Dak as in the 30's as his qualy time. But on the Tissot & now on the UCI site, he's gone from the start list for tomorrow.
Also, anyone care to explain the start order? Thought at first it went off world rank, but the start sheet has several riders out of order by # plate. I thought the # plates assigned were world rank AND start order?

I saw Dak listed as DSQ. Keen to hear what happened.
Are there any other "specialty" racers out there? Or just South Africans? Rory is obviously a good racer, but isn't as fast as the world's best, but he is the world's best scrubber. Theo also isn't top tier fast, but can bang out a backflip at Lenzerheide. Are there any other racers that have maxxed stats in one category but mid pack in the rest?
Race Start Lists below (PDF files) - Juniors run complete, then have awards ceremonies. Elites get a sight run after and then race. Lawlor said it was dumping rain a few mins ago. Hopefully it stops and dries up. Rough morning for Juniors regardless.

Well Rory seemingly outright calls himself a free racer. A term often given to Brendog, Theo, Kaos, Kade, etc.
It's worth noting a lot of freeriders start in racing and a lot of racers have a significant freeride background. Just natural crossover. Brage and Remy used to race.
Greg apparently has a really understated free ride background... Obviously Asa can flip. I'm not sure which current riders have a deeper BMX background the way Kade did. Also a lot of racers ride moto in the off season, naturally. Like MOST of them it seems. Won't even name them all.
In terms of south africans I'm sure Needles has got some tricks up his sleeve but I'm not sure if he earns the free racer moniker.
And for specialty riding, I think Bernard Kerr is a notable in his stoppie landings. Yeah tons of dudes like to stoppie after the finish line... But I'm not sure how many are comfortable landing in one on proper sized jumps. (Also Bernard Kerr tried to race A1 supercross in his spare time lol)
Speaking of... Shaun Palmer raced supercross, and made the main at A1. Among a million other things in snowboarding.
Cedric Gracia, of course. Gee for freeride, not sure of his trick bag tho. Feel like I accidentally forgot Jacko? I was fully convinced Jackson was gonna go FR/slope from his childhood. Didn't know about all his race experience.
Vinny T goes fast. On dirt AND snow. Then attempts 100 foot drops that question how to design the physics of a landing for something that size...
The entire French men's team (7 guys) and 4 guys from the US team are in the final 20 on the start list.
So, of course, the sort-of young guy from Canada - the only Canadian in the final 20 - will probably be the betting favorite to win. Okay, so he's the reigning champ and he's won 3 of the 4 times he's raced at Val di Sole... I guess I can understand how some might say his chances are decent...
Also worth noting. Was watching the 4x livestream... And Jackson Goldstone commented how sick it was in the live chat. Kid is for the culture! Seems to be in good spirits despite the crash today.
I like scrubs… where they at???
Looks like Jackson had a nasty crash in final practice - hopefully he's all good

Damn, that was a hefty slam. Truly hope he's ok. I was rooting for him for tomorrow's race.

Did Dak go outside a pole in his quali run and get disqualified?

It’s raining pretty consistently right now. Not expected to clear until about 10am.

minnaar heelclicker at rampage 2003 - no more freeride than that LOL
