Another weekend, another World Cup. This time we travel from Leogang, Austria to the slopes of Lenzerheide, Switzerland for round 4 of the series. It's another dual DH/XC round, so downhill races take place on Saturday.
Historically, the DH track has been very abusive on both bikes and bodies and as far as we've heard, there are no significant changes this year.
Weather (as of Tuesday June, 16)

We'll have Vital DH Fantasy rolling when quali start lists land (likely Weds). Until things kick off, here are some social posts from Atherton Racing and Canyon.
Looks like Luca went with #10 as his career number

they have an hour for 121 elite men and an hour for 119 juniors to qualify? how is that possible? they'd have to be precision perfect with 30 second drops and not a single crash, flag, hiccup etc). is it always this tight? i've never paid attention to the allotted times for quali. at least elite women have 30 mins for 38 women.
Need Asa to backflip the jump in his run again

What’s up with Gwin?
You can see the start lists from previous qualis and see that's normal.
It was about that tight at Leogang for the Elite men, and of course not all the guys on the Entry list will attempt to qualify.
At Leogang they had 119 Elite men on the Entry list, 114 on the Q1 Start list, and 106 who actually started. The start times ran about 57 minutes from first guy to last guy dropping, at least on the schedule.
I have no idea how well the actual start times matched up with the schedule, but I'm guessing they have some flexibility about the Q2 start times due to mechanicals, crashes, etc. during the Q1 and Juniors qualifying. There are no other DH training times scheduled that day after qualifying is finished.
What’s up with WYN?!? Is he skipping this round for coverage?
He said in the Fast as French track walk interview that he was for sure going to do it in his quali run which is diabolical with the level of competition these days.
Timed training is underway. Elite Men are on the hill until until 16:30 Lenzerheide time / 10:30 Eastern US time.
Women Elite and both Juniors are done. Full results and live timing are available at https://live.ucimtbworldseries.com/ for anyone who might be interested.
Asa Vermette is one of the riders who apparently participates in timed training but sometimes runs without a timing chip. Other riders might do the same, so if they don't show up in the results it doesn't necessarily mean they're not racing this week. Still, it's worth noting that neither Rosa Zierl nor Tilly Boadle posted results in timed training; each of them had crashes in previous races and were on the podiums in the races they finished this season.
Course preview with Boost Bro:
Happy to see they (mostly) skipped out on the weird chicane before the final drop that seemed to decide races there in the past. I wonder if they built out the landing to make it so you can carry more speed into the drop safely.
Ya this one is sneaking up on me... I feel like last round we were spoiled with so much content I barely saw this one coming with not many previews / track walks before TT started. And no start list / fantasy yet?
Start lists are at: https://live.ucimtbworldseries.com/
Shout to @athertonproject I spotted the famous catchphrase of Louie from MTV-The State in their video.
Now...why can't I find the actual skit anywhere online?
start lists were sent at 1245am last night...they always seem late at lenzerheide. fantasy will be up shortly.
Fantasy is open - https://www.vitalmtb.com/fantasy/2026/round-4-lenzerheide and lawlor is exporting RAW right now. "track is so hectic."

Narrow miss here during practice. WB/UCI needs to figure out marshalling, this should never be a possibility.
holy cow, that was close! flashbacks to rachel jumping a person in 2015 - https://www.vitalmtb.com/videos/features/Rachel-Atherton-Road-Gaps-Over-a-Person-During-Timed-Training-at-Lenzerheide,29209/sspomer,2 (sorry it's an old video in our player, can't embed)
Troy’s crash last week could have been prevented with a well placed Marshall. Red flag till the bike is cleared off track. If there is a blind landing that seems like an important place to have a Marshall.
Vital RAW from Lawlor. Jackson almost didn't come back to earth.
it couldn't have. was happening too fast for anyone too react. From the time of Jed's crash to Troy hitting is bike was around 3 secs.
asa's POV
Come one we all know UCI/WB have the ability to freeze time and should have gone and removed the bike, checked on the rider and then allowed Troy to continue one unaffected😉
