counterpoint - $600 is easily the cost of an ER visit for many people 🤷‍♂️

I can speak from recent experience it’s a few times over $600 even with good insurance. Also didn’t help they needed to CT scan most of my upper body... Even as a recreational rider I wear the Fox Baseframe Pro every time I ride, even light trail riding. I’ll welcome any advancements for pros and weekend warriors. After coming close to breaking my back on this last spill I’ll take the extra bone insurance and defer my groupset upgrade. And after watching Luca go 50 mph and Millie nearly throw off the Earth’s rotation, glad most riders should have options like Bruni has in future years.

Don’t drop in at the park without Baseframe top/bottom. It’s for sure saved some healthcare $$$.

It’s a solid counterpoint. I’m puting two young guns in the park this season and have really great health insurance. The cost of chesty, full face knee and elbow guards ? It’s right there in that range. Bruni’s a helluva sales person when he comes off at race pace like that and it was def puffed af. Impressive stuff from a brand I’ve trusted with my own (moto and dh) protection for years

Its a bummer because we all could probably benefit from one of these when riding park, but I imagine its a 1 and done thing when it goes off.  And 600$+ is just too much.

It’s full recharge-able with a cartridge swap. It’s designed to conceivably be reset between motos

That is one reason I like my jet force pack its not a canister.  I know for the body armor the fan is too slow and to big for now

It actually deflates slowly immediately following a get off. Sexton or Bam Bam I think was first to set it off on TV. Rode around  with it swollen for a few laps and then it was back to normal. It's not going to trigger again, but in SX it did deflate within a reasonable time.
For DH, you're getting back on and riding inflated to the finish for sure.

Bam Bam was out for most of SX after the crash with Mookie despite having that thing on. They NEVER showed the slo mo of his fall or the previous one.  So I STILL don't know when it gets triggered or how.  They can say it goes off due to a certain parameter. But I still want to see those TWO specific incidents.

In my head I see it either triggering post crash doing nothing OR...triggering as you fly through the air LOCKING your neck into it then you HAMMER the ground w/ your head b/c it won't let you move/articulate.

Someone got video?

This is my reservation too. I need to understand exactly what will set it off in order to trust that it’s not gonna go off at the wrong time. Clearly Loic does, but maybe it’s only practical for super high risk/high consequence racing. It would suck to have a moment that’s recoverable be interrupted by you inflating into the Michelin man

I hate the "AI" search function, but didn't want to wade through A-Stars site. Still makes no sense to me how it triggered for Bam Bam or Loic. One part reads like it can be triggered by an impact...which only saves you from the next impact. Other bits make it sound like "don't hit a bomb hole or don't do a backflip":

A lot of crash detection algorithms are surprisingly accurate.

I just realized this is also cheaper than the new semi-reparable 6D full face

Cheaper than a Carbon TLD helmet which has a one time use.
